Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I orderd 11 caps because i figured to go ahead and get rid of all the crapxcon while i was at it. I did not order the big one though and I did not test it. Was yours bad or did you replace it just because. I prolly should have ordered it as well.Leave a comment:

I've got to say I'm appalled at Phillips the company they are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to helping the end user.....that's the problem these days with this throw away society we live in .....its' a shameLeave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I've resolved the issue with the power supply I had, same issue chirping on startup/load I've replaced the following parts and now have a working PSU
C953,C952,C951, C955, and the big 220uf 450V cap
ZD904, ZD902
D922
(5 caps 2 Zdiodes 1 rectifier beats your 11 caps 2 Zdiodes and rectifier ....<grin>)
Just thought I'd pass on my success on this repair (your mileage may vary)Last edited by Draconis; 03-19-2014, 09:42 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I had not reordered parts. I got busy and had not had time and then i did some more research. Seems like people do get it running again by replacing majority of caps and zd902&904. One post had stated the Q902 - Shorted. Got a new meter that did capacitance so tried testing a few caps. pulled five off the board and all five tested bad. Then tested with a friends meter with the same. Thought about getting a esr meter but dont want to spend the money for as little as i would use it. I tested 922 and got a short. So I am putting in the order now for 11 caps 2 diodes and that rectifier.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
Hi Mavrick2k,
did you resolve this ? I'm at the stage of replacing the Zeners ZD904 and ZD902, I'm also replacing the rectifier STPS40H100CW, Dual Schottky Diode, 40A 100V Common Cathode, Dual, 3-Pin, TO-247 at D922, I've ordered most of the caps as well.....getting fed up with this PSU....seems like its a common fault, just wondered if there was a iron clad fix for it....other than trial and errorLeave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
has anyone traced the source of this problem down or even replaced the whole power board and get the tv working again. I am looking at this issue now. replaced the 3 caps and now getting chirping. dont want to waste time tracing down everything else on the board if this many people have not gotten it fixed. would be nice to know if replacing the entire board would fix it too.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I found the transformer, T904 (996510002520), at www.ued.net for $3.93. They have a huge list of parts.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I have worked on quite a few of these LG Philips power supplies lately and have found that a shorted transformer is the culprit most of the time. Unfortunately you will not be able to find a transformer anywhere and have to replace the whole supply if that is the problem.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
I was just wondering if you ever got this board repaired. I'm having the same problem. I'm an electronics novice I can test components and solder but thats as far as my skill set goes. I bought a "repair kit" for the power supply from ebay. It was replacement caps for C951 C952 C953 and C955 and two replacement diodes for ZD902 and ZD904. I still get the same chirp as before.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
Im at wits end myself from working on this power supply. I purchased every part # I could find on mouser.com and will give it once last shot. I removed and tested the large transformer and it appears and look fine. I don't think it's the problem... I think it's in start up before it. Possibly at D924 or ZD906 or Q908. It makes more sense a chirp would come from a resistor or diode... I'm just hoping it's not the smps chip.
Do a google search for "50114604-philips-37-42-47mf437b-37-42-47pfl5432d-37-chassis-tpm2-0u-la-sm-ET-1" and you'll find the service manual with part numbers and schematics although, you won't find a part number on the transformer. Those aren't replaceable.
Good luck.Last edited by edtv; 12-14-2011, 11:44 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
Hello RayRod81, you do not by any chance have specs on the transformer, maybe the OEM, or a cross reference ? I am not a tv tech but have repaired many, usually rear projection. Many certifications in network services but this TV has me in fits. After replacing the inverter boards I heard the chirp. Can you tell me if the PS has this particular fail if it affects the inverter boards ? I suspect now that my inverter bds are ok and not the problem at all. Appreciate your time man..Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 42" 715T2432-2 issues
Hello Gents !
New to badcaps, found the site while looking for the caps \ repair kit, I also have the phillips 42 " TV. Changed the Inverter boards and no High V so no picture. I did not hear the "chirp" until I replaced the inverter bds. I can get the caps from my local shop but cannot find the suspect transformer and was wondering if anyone had either an OEM or a cross part ##. I am \ was a component level technician that has moved into network services for the school system I work for. Not exactly a TV tech but have repaired many. Have been in networking since 1985 so several yeaars in the component level industry and lots of radar equip repair in the navy. If anyone has any info on a lead for the transformer I am most grateful.
Thanks for the helpLeave a comment:

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by SluggerBI have an old Tivo. The Power Supplies are known to have caps that fail. Here are the caps that come with the original power supply:
I could not find replacement caps with the exact same specs. I followed an online guide and recapped the power supply with caps with these specs
The power supply now works, however the HDMI video is giving me eye strain. I don't know how a capacitor on a Power supply could impact an HDMI video signal, but it does, the Tivo interface has a flicker now and the color/brightness is off. So I want to get some new caps...-

by eryjusHello,
First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.
I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.
I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

by Paxman_SwedeHello!
I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.
The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.
I have studied the board and...-

by captain150I'm trying to repair two old VCRs, they both have bad caps. One has leaky ones, the other would barely run until I subbed in some caps from another power supply I had laying around (though they are the wrong values). This vcr works for an hour or two, but then the power supply starts whining and the picture gets lines in it. I didn't replace all the secondary caps, so another voltage might still be problematic, or the values I used are too far off.
I've been on mouser and digikey but the options are a bit overwhelming. I just need some new ones that will work. They don't need to be top quality,...-
