Good Afternoon and thank you in advance for any help and direction you all may be able to provide.
Was pointed in this direction after another failed attempt to fix a broken DLP.
I am quite technical (run an IT company), and understand hardware quite well. The bulb in this I have replaced a couple times over the years and overall the unit has been ROCK SOLID. However in this last month now, the tv will turn on, you will get a picture and it will stay on for 2-7 minutes MAX, then the screen goes black.
Power is still on, if you push the source button, you can hear the tv switch sources. Lamp is still lit, but there is NO picture. Shut the machine down, turn it back on 20 minutes later, pic comes up, but as soon as (it seems to me) the unit gets warmed up, it goes into some sort of self preservation mode and shuts the image off the screen.
Thought it was a heat issue, took the back panels off it yesterday and used my compressor to get all the dust and dirt cleaned out of the back (there was alot), buttoned it back up and plugged it in......same issue...
No smell of ozone in there, using a flashlight I didn't see any capacitor that looked bubbled up (<--technical term), or blown. No scorch marks on any boards.
I am at a loss. I hate the idea of throwing this whole unit out. Buddy of mine pointed me in the direction of this forum, I certainly hope someone has some direction for me.
Thank you in advance for any help and direction.
