Sony KDL-65W850C is this a Mainboard issue ??

This sat around for quite some time after the backlights died with the six blink error code. I bought replacement strips and eventually swapped them in.

Backlights appear to be working fine now. However the tv only powers on with the "Sony" logo for about two seconds after which it goes away and the panel with backlights stay powered for about twenty more seconds then it shuts off. Tv can only be powered again after power cycling at the outlet.

It will not program via usb, the stick flashes but there is never any indication that it has entered programming mode at least that I can tell.

Is this a hallmark of a bad mainboard for this series ? If so is it the cpu or emmc that goes bad ?

I see there are repair services for this board but they are relatively expensive for an older 1080p set in my opinion. Especially if I can't be certain the board is at fault and the symptoms I've read about failed mainboards don't entirely match what I'm seeing...

    Any guidance is appreciated.

1080p? It doesn't matter, it exists 4k tv with poor quality colors, and also 4k contents are not so commo.. it is clearly a memory fault, probably a spike hit the device and damaged BL + some files when them was in write state..

This is hardly a high end television but no matter...

Are the repair service people replacing and reprogramming the emmc then ?

I tried pairing mode though it's already paired. It failed but the symptoms changed. It now has the classic boot loop failure after reaching the Android spinning circles.

After some deeper investigation it seems these do in fact suffer from bad/failing emmc chips. I'll probably send the board in for repair since having just installed the leds I should be reasonably certain the set will last a little while more before any problems arise.
