search for "Mirror mode" in display or panel settings and turn it off.

It's not from the LEDs. The image is reversed. You replaced the motherboard. If it is Vestel, it cannot be returned from the menu. Say which motherboard it has (17MBxxxxx) and which panel (VESxxxxxx). In the SM it says that the motherboard is 17MB211 and the panel is VES315WNDH-L3-24T, but I don't think this is the panel.

motherboard is original i know it is not the "leds" that is why i am puzzled by the "flip" i bought the tv as faulty (no display, backlights gone)
the previous owner said is son used it for "gaming"
i am positive the set as not been "tampered" with before i bought it
i have repaired many "toshes" with backlight faults but never come across this before

Did you get into panel setting? maybe try with tv on, hit menu 1147 on remote, look for panel setting, choose it then turn on or off mirror setting, as always, be very careful what you do in there, don't want to brick the tv.

It is Vestel electronics and you cannot fix the defect in the SM. It can be repaired with the panel profile. That's why I asked what the panel code is (VES315xxxxx). Until now it was repaired. It only takes 5 seconds and a stick.

Rewrite the panel profile below and you've solved the problem. I think you know the installation procedure if you know how to replace the LEDs.

I see, thanks for explanation, I don't get to see very many vestels here in the states, they are a different animal, lol.

                            1. Format a stick (max. 32 Gb) with fat32
                            2. Create a folder called PQ on the stick
                            3. Unzip the profile and put the 2 files in the folder
                            4. Turn on the TV and insert the USB stick
                            5. Press MENU and 4725 on the remote control
                            6. Go to USB Operations and type OK
                            7. Wait 5 seconds and exit SM
                            8. Turn off the TV from the remote control and wait until the stby LED of the TV stops flashing
                            9. Unplug the TV and wait for the stby LED to go out
                            10. Turn on the TV and if it's ok, remove the stick. If there are problems, repeat the operation.

impossible to insert upside down due to lcd inner bezel cut out

In the case of this procedure, "nothing found" never appears. Only "wait" appears. You're not doing something right. In addition, this is the first time I find out that rewriting the panel profile does not work.

reason for fault found the "honest seller" changed the main board in a vain attempt to cure the black screen fault
the board is for a different panel type (see pic)
thats why getting no results from firmware upload
i can usually tell when a tv been "got at" but not this time!

Ok, that was tricky, a screen can flip for various reasons, I was assuming it was original board after reading post #4, guess best policy for a tv that you are not positive of the history is to check if the mainboard is a match to your model code or check by panel ID.
