No ripple on the DC. Nothing my DMM could read anyway..

Voltages are present....1.1VDC, 1.5VDC, 1.0VDC, 3.3VDC, 5.1VDC. I measured across instead of to GND.wow, thats 5 different DCDC paths all with 12v input. Are you sure all the coils/inductors next to them shows 0V DC on both sides? Sometimes its hard to actually get the probe on the contacts buried on the bottom.
On REG12V, what is AC reading? AC just shows how much noise is above DC. We want to see near 0 for clean stable 12V DC.

Re: Sony XBR-55X900F No picture, no sound no backlight
Yes they are very nice! Very easy to do the checks you wanted.Need schematic or some reverse engineering. Luckily I have the exact board in hand haha...
- Traced REG12V to 5x DCDC for reduced voltages. Check voltage at all 5 points labeled 12V-A->E. Probably all 0V.
- Check the 3 components between where REG12V comes into main and the GND plane right below it. See if any are shorted.
BTW SONY boards are nice... lots of holes on voltage rails and have exposed copper for easy test
12V A through E have ~12.65 VDC
3 components on REG12V input are good. (no shorts)Leave a comment:

Is there voltage at all on this connector, are these input fuses intact?Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

So, I should find where the REG12 conversion to lower V is happening....or supposed to be happening?Leave a comment:

Probably best not to try heating mainboard, I did on my 900c and killed any life that may have been left in it, I may have been able to fix it with patience but after heating it was toast.Leave a comment:

Yep, I posted before he tested whole mainboard as pretty much dead.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony XBR-55X900F No picture, no sound no backlight
CPU, RAM, eMMC not powered up so have to see where the PSU's REG12V DCDC conversion to lower voltage path failed. Or can buy main board if confident enough its the failure source.
CPU is not running software to tell the T-Con section on main to power up.
CPU is not running so will not issue BL-ON to PSU.Leave a comment:

Fuses are good, 26VDC on the caps, very low V (~0.5VDC) on the various test points around the cables leaving the LD board to the backlights.Leave a comment:

Does the tcon fuse have continuity? and any voltage if you put pos. probe on each end and neg. probe on chassis ground.Leave a comment:

Looks like the problem is with 2 BL-ON, and the tcon voltages 26-28.Leave a comment:

Maybe also check the round test pads by the connectors going from LD board to the backlights.Leave a comment:

Re: Sony XBR-55X900F No picture, no sound no backlight
Do you have voltage anywhere on the backlight driver/LD board? maybe check some of the round test points or the little mlc caps, I see you have voltage going to it, wondering if it's getting thru it.Last edited by nomoresonys; 04-16-2023, 02:07 PM.Leave a comment:

You don't measure voltage there at all, these coils for an audio frequency power amplifier (output for speakers), you need to measure them on these coils.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

changed the inverter board same result.
where should i start?

by iglitareHi,
i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.
Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted... -
by AkuankaHi everyone,
I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.
Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help! -
by KYBOSHPrevious owner said TV just went blank one day.
They attempted to open the back panel and yanked the power connector off the power supply in the meantime.
Easily fixed that and got the TV to turn on. Backlights come one with everything connected. Good Sign.
The mainboard shows signs of life (red light on digital audio out is on) but that's about it. Good Sign.
There is not blinking LED and the most importantly there is LED response and sound when I press the MENU button on remote control. GREAT Sign.
I just downloaded the Sony KD-75X7800F Service Manual and... - Loading...
