    Toshiba 19W330DB (Vestel 17MB24H-2 190407) freeview/DTV not working

Hi, got a friends older (2007-08) bedroom LCD TV here and the freeview/DTV has stopped working and just displays a black screen with occasional flashes of green or reddish-pink near the top of the display. Apparently it just went without any prior warning signs.

Other inputs appear to work fine and when switched to analogue (this is an old TV) I get the regular snow pattern so I don't think it's the screen itself. Can't test a true analogue TV signal since analogue TV was switched off years ago in the UK.

I've taken the back off and reseated every connector and prodded on various parts of the board and cables using a plastic ruler but nothing alters the behaviour.

I tightened every PCB ground screw and gave the TV a good shake whilst on but still no dice.

It's one of those 12v adaptor TV's so there's no internal mains power supply, the tuner had +33v and +5v printed next to two of the pins and those voltages are correct.

No visual signs of bad caps or other suspect components, although some parts were so small that it's hard to see them anyway in detail. There's lots of small ventless electrolytic capacitors however.

See attached images for pictures of the board and a low quality GIF of the fault in action.

Any ideas as to what the fault could be and other tests I could do? Like I said the LCD is fine since the other modes work.

    Thanks.

whats going on with that brown top looking cap on the board above the mainboard, did someone mark on it or is it leaking?

Hi, which one? I think it might be a trick of the light. Also yes I've been told that it works fine with an external DVD player.

Is that smaller board with the card slot at the top responsible for DTV decoding or is that likely done on the main board? This TV came from an era when built in freeview/DTV was still being rolled out and many were using external set top boxes.

one easy way of knowing if it is a bad tuner, is to hook up an external tuner, used my old digital to analog tv converter, tuned every channel, without it tv only tuned one channel. tv was made in 2016 so had the built in tuner, was just bad.

S3 Graphics LS3440 - Analogue not working on both DVI-I ports
            by techpointhull
            Hi Guys,

Weird one here. I have a special GPU made by DFI (Model LS3440) from an Arcade gaming machine. The GPU uses the S3 440 GTX Chipset, and has dual DVI-I ports. For some reason, the analogue has stopped working on both outputs (DVI-I to VGA cable). DVI-D and digital outputs work fine, just the analogue that has stopped working.

Now, I could get around this by using Active cables to convert the signal over to Digital, but its got me wondering exactly what the issue could be. I have inspected the GPU and DVI ports under my microscope, but nothing stands out. Because...

            Vestel Firmware - Toshiba 32W133DN
            by anlu
Hello, i have an old Toshiba 32W1333DN (sorry, misspelled the headline) TV that had the standby led green/red flashing and no lightup problem, i repaired it by measure the led output as suspect led problem, i measured the LED:s one by one and found one bad led, i replaced the the led-straps and the TV works.

Now i need to update the software because the new rc "RM-L890" does not work and i think maybe it could be an firmware issue?, i have struggled to find it without any success because all of the links where invalid, i contacted Toshiba but they do not support this model...

Toshiba 49U7763DB (Mainboard: Vestel 17MB120) firmware issues after sporadic power cu
            by cheeky2
I have this Toshiba 49U7763DB Tv which was suffering issues after various electrical power cuts, which happened in quick succession
Originally the TV was powering on and then very shortly powering off. I managed to get into the menu structure before powering off and carry out a first time installation of the TV. Which didn't make much difference. I have managed to factory reset (that didn't make any difference either).
The firmware inside the 17MB120 is corrupted and is causing some strange issues so my question is does anyone have any suitable firmware for this model?
            Details:...
