I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -
by hyperwoodHi everyone,
Iām looking for a 2 MB BIOS dump for a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 16ARH7H / Legion 5 with mainboard NM-E471 Rev. 2.0.
The BIOS chip is a Winbond W25Q16FW (1.8V, 2MB) and it's completely unresponsive / bricked. I tried recovery via USB but no success. Now I want to reflash it externally using a CH341A programmer.
I already found 32MB dumps (e.g. from Vinafix and Badcaps), but they are too large for the chip ā and the last 2MB in those files are just FF FF FF....
ā What I need:- A working 2MB BIOS dump
- Matching NM-E471 Rev. 2.0, e.g. JY575

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -
by KinshirHello,
Is there any known way to check Dell BIOS dumps integrity after downloading from the chip?
I ask this to make sure that I don't get a corrupted dump.
Thank you very much! -
by TamFisheHi, I got a ThinkPad x1 carbon 6th gen from a friend after in an attempt to fix it he ended up bricking the motherboard. today i tried plugging the laptop to the wall and i got no signs of life, despite the connections being proper. i've found out this winbond 25q80dvsig chip under a label near the usb c ports and i gave it a read, and the output has massive chunks of 0000 0000 0000 0000 followed by FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF and sometimes some proper values scattered across the whole chip. I've attached the file because I've read people request it in order to fix it. Moderators, if I've posted this...
