[REQUEST] 2MB BIOS Dump for Lenovo NM-E471 Rev 2.0 (Winbond 25Q16JWSIQ Chip)

    Hi everyone,

    I’m looking for a 2 MB BIOS dump for a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 16ARH7H / Legion 5 with mainboard NM-E471 Rev. 2.0.

The BIOS chip is a Winbond W25Q16FW (1.8V, 2MB) and it's completely unresponsive / bricked. I tried recovery via USB but no success. Now I want to reflash it externally using a CH341A programmer.

I already found 32MB dumps (e.g. from Vinafix and Badcaps), but they are too large for the chip – and the last 2MB in those files are just FF FF FF....

    ✅ What I need:
    • A working 2MB BIOS dump
    • Matching NM-E471 Rev. 2.0, e.g. JY575 / JY576 / JY676 etc.
    • Ideally already tested or extracted from a working system

Thank you very much for any help or a valid dump! 🙏

I can also upload my dead dump if needed.

What is your laptop issue? Why you was trying to flash the BIOS anyway?
Most likely your 2MB chip is vBIOS (Graphics Card firmware). We need your laptop serial number, the number of the chip on the motherboard (Or an image for it), the exact GPU on the motherboard.
Also a backup from your 2MB vBIOS chip and your 32MB BIOS chip if you can.

Thanks for the reply – and yes, I made a mistake with the 25Q16JWSIQ chip.
I thought it was the BIOS and accidentally erased it, but I had made a backup first and reflashed it right after.

I’ve attached that 2MB backup here, in case it’s helpful.

I also took a clear photo of the motherboard (attached), but I really don’t see any second SPI flash chip – no 32MB chip anywhere visible.
      Only the 25Q16JWSIQ and a small 25X05CL.

      Graphic Card is 3070ti
If you spot anything in the photo I missed, I’d really appreciate a hint.

      Thanks again!

          Model: Lenovo IdeaPad 5 16ARH7H
          Serial number: PF3ZL6TE
          Motherboard: NM-E471 Rev. 2.0
          GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti

          Found chips:
          • Winbond 25Q16JWSIQ (1.8V)
          • 25X05CL (very small EC chip)
          • and recently: XMC 25RU256CXIQ
(possibly the real BIOS chip – 256Mbit, 1.8V)

I’ll upload a proper dump from the XMC chip once I get stable contact using the 1.8V adapter.

          Thanks for your time.

This could be your BIOS chip, we need a close image for it.

take care with your CH431A, do 3-4 readings and compare them, when you have 2 identical it means you have a good backup of bios chipset. I suppose that's why your vBios backup isn't good.

I checked your 2MB file and it looks fine (It belongs to NVIDIA RTX 3070 TI Mobile 8 GB).

You didn't tell us your device issue yet! We don't know why do you want to flash the BIOS?

                  Thanks for the tip.

I agree – it was probably a contact issue with the clip.
I’ve now taken a better photo of the XMC 25RU256CXIQ chip (attached here).

It’s extremely flat and hard to get stable contact with the clip.
I’ll try again using better pressure and double-check pin 1 orientation.
Once I manage to get a clean read (same data 2–3 times), I’ll upload the dump here.

The reason I’m trying to flash the BIOS:
The laptop shows no display at all, no Lenovo logo – just fans spinning and keyboard lighting briefly.
Even the BIOS recovery via USB stick didn’t work, so I suspect the BIOS may be corrupted (possibly from a previous freeze/crash).
That’s why I want to dump and reflash it externally.

Thanks again for your help and time.

It's WSON8 8*6 chip, SOIC8 clip will not work. So you have to use a special adapter for it, or Pogo-pins but I don't prefer that.
                    You're welcome.

you have to use 1.8V adapter, 25RU256CXIQ is powered with 1.8V, as well as 25Q16JW

Thanks for confirming JP2 – that helps a lot.

Also thanks for the BIOS file.

I’ll try flashing it using CH341A with a 1.8 V adapter, wired directly to JP2.

Or do you recommend using a different programmer instead?

                                Your programmer (CH341A) is outdated.
I haven't used this model in years...

Yeah, CH341A is old. I know.

It’s what I’ve got right now — not perfect, but it works (mostly).

Flashing via JP2 is the current plan. If it fails, I’ll switch.

Problem is: can’t find a solid modern programmer on Amazon Germany.
Tons of clones. No real specs.
                                  Need a reliable tool. Suggestions?
                                  Thanks.

I have both of these models.

                                    Svod4.
                                    XGecu T76.

Success! I managed to flash the BIOS using the XGecu T76 and direct wiring to JP2 with 1.8V.
The system boots again and everything works fine now.

Thanks to everyone who helped – especially for identifying the correct chip and pointing me to the right tools. Much appreciated! 🙏
