Re: Help after checking psu "no signal "

Bad hard drives will cause stalling, freezing, jerky mouse movement, audio stutter, all sorts really. It could be faulty, but I can't understand why it would stop the machine begging POST and bringing up a display.

If it consistently worked with the HDD unplugged, then I might agree....

Will your machine work long enough for you to check the SMART values of the hard drive? Either via Speedfan or smartctl.

Re: Help after checking psu "no signal "

Hi guys quick update case solved Swapped hdd still same so that ruled that out so seanc was right but i had to to make sure..

got spare psu and put that in faulty pc and put hdd out of my new pc in the faulty pc as the connector on my old pc was different .. plugged her in started first time ,powered off started first time ..left her running for a while and then powered off again ,started first time so even though psu was giving correct voltage rails while connected to hdd ,dvd writer and mobo there was an intermittent fault stopping the pc from booting with my old psu..

So problem was psu even though i recapped the psu apart from a 22uf and 10uf cap .

Now there was some decaying glue in the psu i managed to get most off but some remained ,i reckon either this was the problem or even the main filter caps as i did not check these but on rare occasions do cause an issue..If only i had a spare psu at first then i would not have had to make as many posts on this thread The good thing that came out of this was a bought a spare pc off ebay that i got cheap which allowed me to swap parts around to find this fault ,just a shame i did not have this at my disposal at the start of this thread

Funny thing the guy at pc world reckoned mobo was dead, how wrong was he lol.Even said power supply was fine. so getting correct voltage rails does not always mean the psu is fine ..I will now be taking the faulty psu to bits to try and find the issue when i have the time..I wouldn't mind i bought a load of pan FM and FC caps which will come in handy i suppose..Just shows you

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

        AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
        by wattage
        Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

Requesting Help For GA-970A-DS3 rev. 1.0, No Post code, no RSMRST# signal
        by AstutePauciloquent
Hi everyone, over the past few months i have taken a deep dive into motherboard diagnostics and I love the challenge. Currently im trying to learn all about the signals that travel around the motherboard, such as frequencies, enable signals High and Low logic states etc. And i have been learning to read and using the Schematics for this board that i requested here on Badcaps forum, from a few months ago, this is such a great place for these.

I’ve been working on a GA-970A-DS3 (rev. 1.0) that does not post. This motherboard has been my main learning board. I would like share...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
        by Rick_1234
        Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.
