        Re: Antec True330 P/S

Still haven't been able to complete the repair, waiting on a back order from Digikey.
You chose ... poorly. Digikey provides available quantity of each part when selecting for order. You could also have picked a higher capacitance and/or voltage rating that would fit the available space and was in stock, and have your recap done.
I did get the 1000 uf 10V Rubycon caps in from Computekinc and while in the mood to solder, replaced the same on 2 other PS's (Allied and Aspire). Both of these supplies were loaded with capxon's, fuuyou's and g-luxons. I now notice the +5v in the bios is stable as a rock!
Isn't it amazing how much better things operate with quality parts? Now you're seeing it the way the designer intended for it to operate.
Is it a safe assumption that the 10v caps are used in the 5v circuit?
No. The only thing you know for sure is that they *aren't* in the 12v part of the circuitry. For economies of scale, PC board manufacturers often use 10v parts on anything 5v and below (3.3v, 2.5v, Vcore, etc.).
Also noticed the DVD drive now auto runs straight off without having to run the tray door a few times. I dunno if any of this is related to recapping BUT, I'm really happy with the results so far even if it may just be pure conjecture
Absolutely, it's related to the recapping work you've done. All consumer electronics are designed based on certain principles, one of the most fundamental being that the supply voltages are the specified value, with any ripple being within a certain value. Use of inferior parts negates that basic assumption, with the result that the consumer gets junk, and wonders why it doesn't function as expected. As mentioned before, now you're seeing it work closer to the way it was intended.

Yes, no doubt. I really wanted the Panasonic FM series as they have good specs. I don't mind waiting a few more weeks for the proper parts.

Finally received the back order caps last week. Everything looked fine but still no power. AC power wasn't getting past the daughter board by the power socket. It ends up solder melted off 1 leg of the transformer on the daughter board (probably the "pop" I heard when plugging it in). Resoldered and it's running perfectly . It took a bit of time but well worth the effort. It's replaced the cheap Rhycom PS pictured in another post.

got this tv from a friend who got a new one and didnt want to bother repairing this one.
he said it sometimes would just flash color patterns.
and sometimes it would just work
i figured it had some intermittent mainboard issue.
i stored it at home for a while before looking at it
when i plugged it in for the first time, i heard some popping noises
and then a big cloud of white smoke came out of the back of the tv!
i noticed the smoke didnt actually smell like anything. not like when an IC blows.
i unplugged it and took the back off and discovered...

Antec Earthwatts EA-380 smd element type/value
              by sirpsychol
While recaping Antec Earthwatts EA-380 I've broke one side of unknown smd element, it have no print, it's flatter and darker than smd capacitors on this board, shaped more like resistor but it's not resistor ofc. Unfortunetly the printed description was under it and element was glued to the board so I cant read/tell the letter before element number too. Have anyone any idea what it is? Maybe is there any diagram of this PSU?

Antec Smart Power SL300S capacitor replacement.
              by CWEastwood
              Hello,

I'm currentlly in the process of trying my first power supply repair (really my first soldering project) and have some questions with regard to which capacitors to replace the bad ones.

The power supply is an Antec Smart Power SL300S ATX12V 300 watt.

I have successfully desoldered every capacitor from the board without destroying anything (I think) and I am currently in the process of choosing which caps to order. This is where I'd like a little community wisdom.

Now the capacitors inside are mostly Fuhjyyus (a forum favorite) with 1...

              Antec VP-600P and NE550M dead
              by s_henya
              Hi all,

Got in these 2 nice PSUs, both died after power surge.
Both seems to be suffering from the same fault.
              Blown main fuse
              Shorted N mosfet 550v
              VP-600P: 5R280CE short between GDS
              NE550M: MDF18N50 short between GDS

In terns of board layout these seems pretty identical.

From past knowledge, once gate get shorted, most likely the for the driver to go bad as well.
I never tried to salvage blown fuse PSU with shorted Mosfet due to that.

Is it worth to try and replace the mosfets? is there a chance that the...

Sceptre U550CV-UMR 4K LED, Bad Caps on Main Power Board?
              by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...
