Looking for a PSU with GSC cap? Meet the Ersys 450W PSU

It was once again, one of my friend call me in the phone that his PC was dead. A P4 2.4GHz, 512MB DDR, ASUS P5K* or something. So I came to his place, doing an autopsy, and yes, found that the PSU was the culprit.

I was surprised to find a GSC cap, and jackons too, inside the PSU. To my knowledge, GSC and Jackon were brand of (bad) caps that was used in motherboard/graphic cards, not PSU!

And as if that's not enough, i saw a panasonic FF and a nichicon VR cap. A $10-15 PSU with japanesse caps?

I believe they were the original caps came with the PSU. The warranty label was intact before i open the PSU, and the back of PCB didn't look like someone has recapped/resoldered it before me.

It was probably recapped earlier, which is when the Panasonic FF was installed. BTW, if anybody has the datasheet of the Panasonic FF, please post it here. I can't seem to find it after Googling for it in the usual way. FFs have silver stripes on the sleeve, which might indicate that they're not as low ESR as the gold-striped FC/FK/FJ/FM/FL.
