    Cooler Master RS-400-PSAR-13

Recently acquired this clean good looking Cooler Master power supply. The 5VSB works OK, but the power supply is otherwise dead. Not even a fan twitch. Fuse not blown and no evidence of any burnt or blasted components. So.............

This is a half bridge SMPS. First place I looked was the two outputs of the pwm chip, a 2012 "chip of the year". Nothing. Very seldom that I get a pwm chip that does not put out something! Used a digital voltmeter to check the Vcc pin, reading 0.2 volts. Not enough to get a signal output! From the 5vsb, a 10 ohm resistor, then a steering diode, and then the Vcc pin. So I measured the resistance from the Vcc pin to ground. Only 24 ohms. Lifted one side of the diode and removed two filter capacitors from Vcc pin to ground. Still 24 ohms. So I removed the pwm chip and there it was, 24 ohms from the Vcc pin to the ground pin on the pwm chip.

This should be a simple fix. Just replace the pwm chip. Right??? I have traced the pins on several "chip of the year" series, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2012. But so far I have never found a substitute chip on the market (Digikey, Mouser, or ebay). Has anyone found a direct replacement? Hate to toss a clean power supply over something as simple as this.

It's a Deer, just so you know. Try harvesting a 2005 chip from another Deer (or a 2003, that works too) and it should come back to life.
    Main rig:
    Gigabyte B75M-D3H
    Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
    16GB DDR3-1600
    Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
    FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
    120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
    Delux MG760 case

      Oh Deer!
I wonder what happened to that PWM chip. Did the 5VSB overshoot so badly that it killed it? Or perhaps the 12V rail?

Funny thing is, I have an Allied PSU here that is almost exactly identical to yours (only the heatsinks are a bit taller and different shape) - it has a blown fuse and blown BJTs. Uses the same 2012 "chip of the year" IC. I sure pray mine hasn't blown too.

That said, I think what Dan81 suggested may be the easiest option. Other options would be to make a small PCB with an SG6105 or ATX2005 chip and wire the pins accordingly to the board (probably won't match what the "2012" chip has).

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
        by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Common SPI bios chip programming Questions and Answers
        ----------------------------------------------------------

        Q: I have a bios request,i can`t post my backup as i can`t read from the chip.

A: If you can`t read from it how do you expect to write to it ?.

Q: Why is my bios chip unreadable ?.

A: The programmer is faulty or has a worn or broken zif socket.

The USB cable is frayed, connector pins worn or some other physical damage.

Not enough amperage or voltage to power the programmer properly.

2012 Mac SSD (SanDisc Wide One) burnt chip identification
        by abajor
I have an SSD from a 2012 to early 2013 Macbook pro, the SanDisk model SD5SL2-512G-120SE

Attached is a photo of the burnt chip. I'm assuming it's some sort of voltage regulation chip. The numbers are obscured by the damage.
I am attempting to recover data from this SSD, obviously this chip needs to be replaced before anything can be done.

Is there anything else I should check to verify the health of the NAND?
Thanks if anybody knows what part I'm looking for....

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
        by BMCappelletti
        Long story short:
        - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
        - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
        - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
        - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

Hello, anyone here have updated ezp2023+ chip database in .dat file format.

I need to add w25q256jveq chip but I do not know what data should I type.

I'm using the ezp chip dabase editor posted from here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ro-programmers

The currenty unit model that I am trying to detect is HP elitebook 640 g9 which is currently locked on admin bios....
