What's the rest of your setup?

      Current Setup still being built.

      Asus P5K-E wifi
Pentium D 820, plan to upgrade to Q9300 quad core
      2 X 1G kingston 1066 ddr2
Palit HD 2600XT sonic video card ( does not have power connector)
      Memorex dvd/rw
2 sata on the mobo raid
1 sata for WIN XP Pro
      1 IDE disk
      Current PSU Antec TP3-430

I'm thinking this will work with the Pentium D, and I will need to upgrade the PSU when I get the Quad core.

I've been kind of partial to these units:

Those don't have PCI-E power connectors, but you don't need one for that card anyway. I'm using one in my computer (see sig), but I modified it by adding the 2 6-pin PCI-E power connectors that I pulled off two old Antec SP350's. It's been powering my computer just fine. I've also been using those units on all my new customer builds.

Anyway, the Seasonic should work great. They really are well designed power supplies with good components. My only problem with them is that they are overpriced.

        That is the unit, right?

          get corsair 450w.
it'll suffice, and probably cheaper than seasonic(?)

I have a few Corsair VX450. Nice PSU, but VERY long cables. Populated with KMR, KZE on the secondaries. Due to clutter, I'm done with non-modular supplies with long cables, so picked up two HX520 Corsairs. These are built on the Seasonic platform.

I spent an afternoon research all the JonnyGuru articles. Very revealing. He did a recap on an Antec and another one, replacing TEAPOS with premium caps. The ripple got worse. He figured there was something 'special' in the design of the TEAPOS. I know they sure do come in some odd-ball sizes.

Jonny gave the Antec SG Signature series the highest rating ever. After he took them apart, he said no expense was spared on the build quality or components. Considering the $300 price tag, I would expect nothing less.
