    Microbattery MBA1193 teardown

Found this at work, had to peek inside - item is in working condition but I have no plans for using it.

    Any comments welcome.

    Enjoy this 90W () psu.

Don't use 3rd party image hosting. Upload them as attachments here.

I've seen worse, but it definitely doesn't look as good as a genuine charger.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Genuine chargers usually are rather messy inside also but run cooler due to being better designed for efficiency.
It's important that they have a common mode choke in the input, otherwise the interference can cause the touch pad to be jumpy. It looks like there is one fitted.

              it's not bad,
good caps - clean layout, big heatsink.

only a couple of bad solder joints on the mains side and a micro-fuse (i hate those) otherwise it's o.k.

Exactly. These cheap chinese bricks are not as efficienty and may not have so clean/stabilized power as the original chargers but they are much simpler and usually only need to replace caps when go bad. All the branded ones are complex, nowadays floded with silicone glue and you have very little chance to do anything about them when they die.

                  Re: Microbattery MBA1193 teardown

Cheap caps on the secondary (primary side small caps look to be some cheap brand also), poor ish looking soldering, ground track quite thin, and the heatsink mounts on the switching transistor and the output diode. They both are the plastic tab type, but I wouldn't necessarily trust that... (Other's opinions may vary)

Otherwise, I might like it better than others. I just don't know without testing the output ripple and efficiency. Surely there are much crappier ones out there, I know that for a fact.

This is a normal adapter, here for the contrast- "Suddenly stopped working" - so said the owner of this adapter

Looks like that thing has been submersed in water. I don't know how else it could get that dirty inside!

Note the rust/corrosion on one leg of the large capacitor. I recall seeing that here and there on these forums a number of times.
