Taking my lead by specifying component usage in PSUs?

Some of you who have posted pictures of power supplies in the "Power supply pictorial" thread have followed my leadership by specifying what major components are used by what e.g. 3300uF 16V Chemi-Con LXY on 12V rail, MBR20100 rectifier for 12V rail etc.

So congratulations to all who have followed my lead in this area.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Man no offense but you sound like some cheap company PR here…anyway, isn't announcements better section for this?

Testing ATX PSUs under load - Does loading the ATX 24 pin also load EPS & PCIE?
      by AJ847.63e
      Hi Folks,

Just wanted to clear up a misunderstanding of mine (or what I expect is one). Isn't the 12V rail from the 24 pin, EPS and PCIE separated? IE if I put a power resistor on the ATX 12V pin that is not going to load, thus tell me if the EPS or PCIE rails are fine?

I was recently watching ArIs from Hardware Busters video on how to properly test ATX PSUs without using 5 figure Croma substations.

The PCB adapter he used breaks out the 12, 5 and 3.3V pins from the 24 pin and gives you banana plugs to connect to. That is a bit useless is it not? Aren't...

Medion Erazer beast x25 freezes and resets only at low CPU usage

Medion Erazer beast x25 62307 MSN 30031969 GM5ZGXW AMD version

Hello. The laptop freezes and resets only at low CPU usage, practically at IDLE after a few minutes. There is no problem under a load, and I benchmarked it for over an hour. I noticed that one of the CPU coils was making whining noise at low CPU usage. I previously thought it was a BIOS problem, but updated BIOS and no change. I'm thinking of changing the CPU DrMos'es there are 5 of them all together. I have already swapped the DrMOSes first one with the last one (I desoldered them and soldered in swapping DrMos no.1 with...

Samsung UN65NU6950 edge lit TV LED bar after 10k usage hours
      by howardc64
Edge lit LED TV has 1/4 section backlight out. Replaced the LED bars and sharing the findings on the original 10k hour LED bar.

These are 6V LEDS (reads ~5.4+ on my LED tester) New bars read about 147V per 1/2 of each bar. Clearly original LED bar has some problems
      • One section is 153v with a dead LED so clearly built up resistance
      • One section flickers but magically fixed itself after driving individual LEDs. All done with an LED tester so don't know if would work driven by PSU backlight circuit and how long it would last
      • Connector pin to test pad resistance is nearly 0 ohms.

Beginner, practicing to unsolder on a lead free xbox 360 board, it is hell.

Don't hesitate to tell me what i do wrong and if you have any tips and tricks, because i want to learn and improve.

I have a 60w iron that can go up to 450c, cone tip, i usually set it at 400. I applied flux on solder, tinning the tip then applying new lead solder to the joint so that it can mix with the lead free and lower the melting point, then i tried to suck up the melted solder with the solder sucker. But that didn't work since the lead solder doesn't seems to mix with the lead free one. I also tried applying flux to a wick and the board, then tinning the tip of the iron and...
