by Jeff'sTechHello everyone.
I have come here with a rather specific question. I was given a Dell Latitude 7420 laptop with a busted screen, and wanted to see if I could refurbish it into my daily driver. I wanted to experiment and see if a 2-in-1 display would work as the chassis of the laptop and 2-in-1 7420 looked identical. I threw in the display and my hypothesis was correct, however, I was greeted with a locked BIOS and since I didn't know the password, I figured I'd try to unlock it somehow. Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me.
I have an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (G814JZ) laptop with a Winbond 25Q16JWNIG chip on the motherboard.

- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -
by alegatorulhi,
i've being using this Cello tv, uk brand, C40rts, HK.T.RT2841P638 main board, for a year or more.
Last week i've found an update, 3rd party, that i though it was close to my board. Inserted on a usb stick the install.img, started the Firmware update, ended, rebooted and nothing. The led (red-green) keeps flashing, backlight is on but to response on remote.
I've retried with original fw, no success. Hooked the uart Cp2102, putty, tried to swuu command (to update from usb), it goes for a while the get "cpu reset" on laptop screen that brakes the process and halt....11-03-2024, 02:28 AM - Loading...
