) 22AWG wire for 1.2ft (7in there, 7in back) ought to be adding 0.019 Ohms of
resistance, in series obviously, to the capacitor. So, is this a considerable amount
    for these components?
let's take the 1000uf caps as an example.

    Nichicon PL 1000uf 35v comes in a 12.5mm x 31.5mm, and a 16mm x 20mm.
Judging by the relative size in the pictures, it looks like yours are the 16x20.

Nichicon 16x20 PL series has .034 ohms impedance at 20deg. C. and 100KHz.

At low frequencies, you're adding over 50% to the impedance of the capacitor. At 100KHz, the inductance of the wires will also add appreciable impedance.

Everything I notice seems to say "Low ESR", but.. low,
    compared to what?
    "High" lol

Actually one company's "low" is another's "high", and a third company's "ultra low", it's just a marketing term. Only the data sheet will tell you what you need to know.

I haven't seen any hard numbers like, for instance, is 1 Ohm
considered "High ESR", is 0.1 Ohm High ESR? If 0.019 Ohms is enough to push
a Low-ESR component out of that status, then I suppose that must be the case.
PL series are on the high impedance end of "low" impedance.

With the PL series and those in it's range, .02 ohms resistance is probably less of an issue than the inductance those wires are adding. I'll bet the Jamicon GP caps had higher ESR than the total of the PL and the wire resistance. Once you start putting multy kiloherz spikes of high current through those wires, that's when you have a real problem.

On the other hand, if this were a motherboard using a .007 ohm Nichicon HZ series cap, or a .005 ohm polymer cap . . . well, you can do the math.

At what specific numerical value does a component become "Low ESR", and, if
I know that, then I could add 0.019 to the ESR of such a typical component,
and see if it is still low or not.
Again adding pure resistance is different than adding resistance and inductance to a high frequency circuit. You want all your impedance in the capacitor itself, then just choose the capacitor that matches the ESR and ripple current rating you need.

Hello, I need the schema of this power supply because when I cleaned I did a short and splatter, various resistances and perhaps diodes and transistors was burned and I don't know which are these components

For those interested, the company who made this is Yuelin computer technology co., ltd. They are in 8f-1, 3, Wu Chuan 1st Rd., New Taipei City, 24892 Taiwan.
Complicated address, eh? Quick search led me to them.

          A Dead/DOA Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU
          by momaka
More eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)

And a shot of the label:...

450W PSU capacitor Identification and where to get another one?
          by AdrenalinTL
          Howdy peeps.

Can someone tell me where to get another one of these? google doesn't seem to have a 560uF and I am still quite a newbie to the whole world of electronics so trying to learn as I go. The one to the right of this pic is definitely swollen. PSU does random shut downs / no power on etc

Also, can it be replaced with a higher uF cap ? Same voltage?

          Thanks...

Learning with ATX CHIEFTEC 450W PSU
          by harp
I have a little question regardless a way to repair ATX power supply CHIEFTEC MODEL: GPS-450AA-101 A. It is 450w power for computer.

The psu has initial short on +5VSB (purple), and I found and replace shorted diode SB340. After replace, unpowered measurement of all outputs seems fine. All other big double diode on heatsink are ok in secondary side. I connect psu with 60w bulb in serial, and bulb shortley flash as it would be. There is steady 5.2v on +5VSB and PS-ON, on any other is nothing, like 0.00v. So the primary is ok, right?

But, when I PS-ON (green) connect, bulb...

[FIXED] XFX Core Edition Pro 450W ticking noise
          by ntoskrnl
My XFX Core Edition Pro 450W power supply started making a weird ticking noise some time ago. Eventually, I figured out what the issue was, and managed to fix it. I purchased this unit back in 2012, so it's an old model, but I'm still posting this in case someone finds it helpful or interesting.

          THE PROBLEM
The power supply started making an irregular ticking noise when running, but would otherwise work perfectly fine. The issue would sometimes come and go. A Google search for "xfx core ticking" found multiple other people reporting the same issue, so I assume this...

Corsair HX 450W shuts itself down after a while
          by Paar
Hi. I have bought used Corasir HX 450W power supply and have an annoying problem. I have a PC case with PSU situated on the top of it. Whenever I install this PSU in it and close the cover the computer shuts down after a while. If I let the case open everything is fine. I'm using mATX AM3 motherboard with integrated graphics and am cooling the CPU with big Scythe cooler. With it the CPU idles at circa 40°C/104°F.

I tried two different PSUs and none of them shows this symptom. The integrated GPU (in the northbridge) gets pretty hot but I'm sure it's not hot enough to overheat the...
