Need help to fix a LC-Power LC6550G 550W power supply: turns on for 1 second

Ok, so I got this LC-Power LC6550G power supply, which does not work properly.
It turns on for 1 second, just enough for the fan to turn a little.
I tested it connected to a motherboard, and with no load at all, and with a CD drive connected to Molex connector.
Every time it just turns on for second.

The 5VSB line measures 5V all the time.
12V line measures 12V for a short time when trying to turn on, but then goes back to 0V.

The previous owner said "Even though I removed it today from use, the computer it was in often had problems cold-starting when not being used for a long time"

Here's some pictures of identical PSU

I hope some of you can help me trying to fix this power supply, I will appreciate it

I have had this issue before, it often turns out to be a bad capacitor on the output side.
Going by the general build quality, I'd put that at a low 300W maximum. No way it's 550W capable.

All caps are atleast visibly good, they are mostly Teapo, which will do fine for my use
I'd not like to replace all the caps and then find out that it's still not working.
Can any specific cap cause this? 5vsb cap?

I know that it is not capable of doing it's rated wattage, it will explode somewhere around 400 - 430W load.

Have you tested the secondary diodes for shorts ?

That looks like a Huntkey, which besides the use of half bridge topology (bipolar transistors), Chinese capacitors, the dishonest rating, and lack of OPP, actually looks like a decent build to me. FCon is a very common choice for secondary capacitors in Huntkey power supplies so if there are FCon capacitors in there it's possible they've failed, if not some other very low end brands they used to use - BH and KSC come to mind. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I might have spotten a small, blue BH (CD288?) capacitor right next to the voltage doubler (by the passive PFC - the heat from it must have not helped - it looks like it's easy to remove as well, so if it isn't necessary for the operation of the PSU, I don't think removing it would hurt... but then your PSU might not have that near its voltage doubler as it isn't the same one as the picture). I think 300W is a good limit for it too. I'd say it would be a good PSU after it's recapped (though it could have a self-oscillating, two-transistor +5VSB circuit with feedback).

A shorted rectifier is a good possibility - just had that happen to me yesterday, on a 600w Solytech i was recapping. Before that, all was fine. After i finished the recap, it wouldn't stay on more than a second.

Culprit - somehow the -12v diode got shorted A UF3003. Replaced it with a UF5408 and all is fine

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
              by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

              Russound CA4 Power Supply Repair
              by CMCM
              Hello Everybody,

Trying to repair a power supply from a Russound CA4 Multizone Controller (picture attached)

Russound no longer supports it but were kind enough to provide a schematic of the power supply (pdf attached).

The outputs marked 12v and 20v are all measuring only 1v.

The board is clicking, which I think means it is in something called hiccup mode when the flyback transformers switches because of an internal problem or something else on the board Overloading it.

The capacitors physically look clean (no bludgesor leaks) and...
