Anyway, I ran an athlon-900 for 3 years on a generic sub-L&C quality ‘300w'. Any instability was caused solely by motherboard issues. I transferred it to a celeron-433 and it's still running strong. I don't have much experience with crap PSU since I like a quiet system, and crap PSUs aren't quiet.
The L&C 450W I have, the fan that it came with was very quiet, but it was very weak. It replaced that with a much louder EVERCOOL EC8025H12B 80MM ball-bearing fan that is very reliable, and it rated up to 37.27CFM, which I think is adequate.

My L&C 450W came with a case I bought, and that L&C is running strong in an old Pentium III 450MHz computer.

By the way, I don't know why, but this particular guy got an L&C power supply that looks more impressive than the usual L&C power supplies.

Not too bad - probably worth the $17 tag. It seems to have a fairly massive 30A rectifier on +3.3v. However, the secondary caps still look wimpy, and the primaries are "Saturn". Probably a good starting point for a recap is to do it when it's still new - the Saturns don't last long on the secondary.

I think it's a beefed-up DEER power supply for reviewers, since I haven't seen a DEER power supply with those bigger heatsinks, and honeycomb vents on the back of the unit.

I think that would put out not less than 250W.
