    Nextherm?

Hey guys, hope this is in the right spot.

I'm in the market for a new PSU and saw this Nextherm . After looking at Jonnyguru's review, it seems pretty much like a done deal. My only concern is it's his older testing methods. And I was wondering if there's any major concerns I should have since he hasn't tested lately with his new setup?

Edit: if it's up to snuff, it'll overpower what I'm needing to do (754 board with onboard everything). But I want it to read true in case I use it in a future build.

I don't know... that Jonnyguru guy si quite the assclown.

Besides, look at those Newegg Customer Reviews. Goodness those they hold a lot of weight.

The only thing the "new" testing methodology is missing is the hot box and o-scope. We still get to see regulation, efficiency and whether or not it can hold a load. The unit is made by SevenTeam, which I hold a lot of faith in. So for the money I'd say it's a nice unit regardless.
Rest in peace BFG. You were... a job...

Much appreciated Jonny. Didn't mean to put you in 3rd person when talking about you, just didn't want you to feel obligated to respond (even though I was hoping you would :P) Unlike "some" I think you're reviews are top notch, whether you test everybody or not.

In other words, the double thumbs up means a lot.

agree with what he said, exactly what i want to say to you jonny. i recommend your blog a lot to many people. psu review are everywhere, but you put something 'different' with your psu review site/blog. psu inquisitor page is great but still...i miss the blog.

        sorry for the OT.

Asus X512F won't hold on battery charge
          by Kambi13
Hi all, need some help on this matter. Laptop works fine plugged in, battery still has 80% charge and won't go above that value, and as soon I remove power it won't hold on battery charge and turns off.
Now on Battery + it has 8,37V, which is roughly the rating for the battery pack, but it should be higher. IC Charger is BQ24780S, BATDRV and BATSRC, both measure those 8,37V, but when I probe them they start with 11,53V and drop immediately to 8,37V.
Checked the battery mosfets both High Side and Low Side (N-Channel) and they seem ok. Even replaced them to be sure. So my best guess...

Concerns before attempting a Reflow of Laptop's GPU
          by Mr_Nada
I saw some posts at one point talking about doing a reflow but I couldn't find them again so I thought that I would post this here.

I plan on reflowing the GPU of this old HP DV2500 laptop but I want to go over what I have and the steps I have to take to guarantee it will come out fine.

I have a Yihua 8786D 2in1 Rework station, flux (just some paste that I got from an old Radioshack kit), a couple rolls of Kapton tape and a $15 Thermometer +probe (a TM902C from EMR shielding Solutions if its important).

          Old Emac CRT Vertical Hold
          by Razbith
          Hi

For awhile now I've been trying to repair an old eMac G4 700, it's an education edition cousin to the iMac.
          Specs https://www.macintoshrepository.org/...52-emac-g4-700

I've replaced drives, memory etc and now ready to do a fresh install. But at some point I think I've bumped something and the screen now shows a picture but rolls vertically. I've tried the service manual but it's go to for all screen problems seems to be replace the cable.
          Manual

I doubt thats it, the picture is perfect, it just rolls.

          I can't...

Retting BIOS Chip by a short
          by 74kieran
          Hi,

I am currently trying to remove the BIOS Password. I have a W25Q128JV chip which stores my BIOS on.

I have checked the manual online and it says that pin 7 is a /HOLD or /RESET.

If I shorted pin 7 out by adding it to a ground would it remove the BIOS Password?

          4.6 Reset (/RESET)
A dedicated hardware /RESET pin is available on SOIC-16 and TFBGA packages. When it's driven low for
a minimum period of ~1µS, this device will terminate any external or internal operations and return to its
          power-on state
