I have a bulged JEE cap from MS Industrial KYP-350W PSU.
They're probably not as bad as GSC but I've seen them only once - and one of them was bad.

BTW jonny, is there any chance we can see the complete schematic/diagram/circuit design of those PSUs?
I only have the Wintech (the decent one) diagram, not the Youngyear.

      WIN-PCB.pdf

      WIN-CASE.pdf

And no values for the components.
Rest in peace BFG. You were... a job...

          thanks, that's also interesting.

hmmm, i think we should have S.M.A.R.T built in for PSU

          >hardwareguy, so they are xconect and fortron, right? so what is the story after that, did he/you autopsy those dead things?
days are so short when you actually do something..

Testing ATX PSUs under load - Does loading the ATX 24 pin also load EPS & PCIE?
            by AJ847.63e
            Hi Folks,

Just wanted to clear up a misunderstanding of mine (or what I expect is one). Isn't the 12V rail from the 24 pin, EPS and PCIE separated? IE if I put a power resistor on the ATX 12V pin that is not going to load, thus tell me if the EPS or PCIE rails are fine?

I was recently watching ArIs from Hardware Busters video on how to properly test ATX PSUs without using 5 figure Croma substations.

The PCB adapter he used breaks out the 12, 5 and 3.3V pins from the 24 pin and gives you banana plugs to connect to. That is a bit useless is it not? Aren't...

            Is this screen cracked?
            by Storyteller12
I've never seen a screen cracked like this and still have a perfect picture.

Maybe it's the diffuser cracked like on some of the Samsung NU series.

Just curious what you guys think. TV is for sale in my area and thinking of maybe trying my luck.

Wanted some other opinions before I pull the trigger...

Ampeg PF-350 bass amplifier head repair
            by JoelJ
            Hello everyone!

I recently bought a broken Ampeg Portaflex PF-350 bass amplifier head in unknown condition. As it turns out, it's completely dead. Tried powering it on with the dim bulb tester, dead short.
I have attached the schematic below.
            What I found:
TH1 is cracked visibly but measures 6 ohms. Will replace it but should be okay for testing for now.
Either Q1 or Q2 was dead shorted. Don't remember which one but one of them. Both are FQPF12N60C. I replaced both with SiHP18N50C to test as I had these on hand. They are the same package, pinout, mosfet type....

cracked tantalum cap on a video card. safe to apply power without fireworks?
            by ChaosLegionnaire
please refer to the attached pics. is it safe to apply power with that tantalum cap like that without causing fireworks? i dont wanna burn a hole through the pcb as the gpu chip is on the other side.

happened to me once before with a shorted mlcc. shorted mlcc on a vrm power phase burned a hole through the pcb power section but thankfully that was nowhere near the gpu chip. but the video card still ended up in the landfill anyway tho as the burn-through was not fixable.

so do let me know what u think of the chipped tantalum there. thanks....
