Direct power feed from laptop battery to firewire interface

I'm considering powering my Motu traveler firewire audio interface directly from my Motion m1400 tablet battery.
The motion only has a 4 pin firewire port so can't bus power the traveler.

I did a half hour recording test by connecting two wires to the motion's battery terminals and squeezing the battery in.
The 2 wires went to a power connector for my motu traveler and it worked fine.

The next stage is to solder a permanent connection inside the motion.

I know doing this will effect the motion's power handling circuit.
What problems is this likely to cause and do I have to add any other components inbetween the battery connection and the traveler?

The traveler can use any 10-18 volt dc 12 watt power supply with any polarity.

BTW. I know you can get pcmcia firewire cards, but I don't want to use one.

a fuse at the + lead right at the battery.
iirc the motion stick packs are 14.8v.
i have one on my bench to rebuild right now.

Marantz SR5007 popping on volume change and mute in Direct Mode
      by BigOof
      Hi,

I bought a used Marantz SR5007 and it's giving me some issues that I can't seem to really place. It functions well in most settings, ARC mostly works, it has no issues driving my speakers in any of the digital input modes, but I'm having issues running analog inputs in direct or pure direct mode. For some reason in this mode there's distortion for every volume increment I give it, but once the volume is stable it has no issues. Muting creates a loud pop, switching to another source also causes a pop and so does turning off the amp in that mode. Again, no issue in the digital modes....

      MOTU TRAVELER MK3 AUDIO PROBLEM
      by falcontech
      Good Afternoon
I have a problem with this MOTU audio card, a traveler MK3, the connection to the computer is via firewire, the card is recognized by the computer (both mac and win) but I have no audio output, on the front there are a series of LEDs including the clock (44.1, 48, etc.) and that LED at the time of connection usually remains fixed telling me the clock frequency set on the computer, now at every start the LED in question remains flashing in most cases, sometimes it becomes fixed, other times it disappears, without any sign of operation, I exclude problems with the firewire chip,...

220VAC locales... ever used DC to feed switch mode power supples...and how many volts is generally okay?
      by eccerr0r
For those in 220V locales, anyone power their SMPS with DC, and how high of a voltage is okay?
      What kind of PSU?
I suspect that 240V * sqrt(2) = 340V DC is probably fine because that would be about how much the the primary rectifier ends up with peak voltage. Just wondering, other than input capacitor voltages, can one go up above this 340V without damage? Will that input capacitor be the upper bound?
Wondering if exactly that, can I feed near 400VDC into bona fide specced at 220V SMPS without damage?

Currently have a 120/220V switchable SMPS I want to see if I...

SecurityMate Model SMWMS2 Wireless Motion Sensor
      by ADV
      Good day

I have a battery operated remote controlled wireless motion sensor that is not outputting an alarm when the unit is triggered via motion.
It uses 3 X 1.5V AA batteries in series. When arming and disarming the unit, the piezo does beep once(armed) and beep twice(disarmed).
When measuring the output directly on the PIR sensor(Digital Intelligent Passive Infrared Sensor AM312), its output goes high(3V) for about 2 seconds when waving my hand above it, then drops low again.
So it looks like the PIR sensor is functioning correctly.
      The unit also...

right here we go got this portable speaker which is great but no speaker outs to connect proper speakers like my tannoy cherries . would it be worth thinking about adding switched speaker sockets . ? oh its a soundcore anker motion boom plus . sounded good earlier outdoors but in here sounds a bit crap compared to my tannoys and rotel amp
