    ASUS VH222H - PowerSupply Problem

Hello, i'm french and really noob on electronic but i'm very curious and interested to solve some (maybe) easy problem...

So i hope i can learn more with your experience....

    My screen : ASUS VH222H
One day a strong odor was noted in my room so i decided to open it to find out what it was...so take a look at the photos :

    PowerSupply CARD :

From these first photos what about feasibility ?? :O )

Do you think with such burn pcb, i can still try something ?

Here it is the component involve :

(You can notice some traces of burn)

First of all, I hope you have enough elements to give me your opinion about my problem...if i can change this component and get back correctly on the pcb...

    Thank You...

Re: ASUS VH222H - PowerSupply Problem

Well looking at the set of connectors opposite side of the transformer, I can see no component.
Are those pins opposite, covered in glue?
I wonder if there was a bad solder joint which has gotten hot and melted the glue...
As for why it got hot, that's another question. Perhaps the transformer has shorted.

Arcover in high voltage section. Could be bad (open) CCFL lamp and failed overvoltage protection, could be just that some metallic debris landed inside... Scrape the burnt material off and try to power the monitor again. See what that gives. It's important that you get the affected area very clean otherwise it'll arc again (burnt stuff = carbon, carbon is conductive). If the burn is deep use a dremel tool to cut that part of the board out, just don't damage the traces. There's plenty of space there so if you are careful it should be easy. Remove the transformer before attempting such a job though.

Also i see that the board has Elite capacitors. Better replace them even though they are not bad yet, they will go bad soon.

Didn't you mean Elna? Those are good but not low ESR IIRC.

                    Hello,

I have a problem with the bios, let me explain.

With BIOS 1, the pc takes +- 30 seconds to display the ASUS logo (black screen) and to boot.

I did a clear ME, my black screen problem for 30 seconds at boot is solved, it gives me directly the display and boots quickly.

My problem is that now, once the charger is plugged in and I put a slight load on the processor, it bogs down to 0.39GHz...
The only solution is to unplug the charger to get the cpu back up to speed. But as soon as I plug in the charger, it goes straight back down....

                    by Dobrowol
Hi. I have a problem with Asus ROG GA402RK. The keyboard suddenly stopped working along with the kb backlight. I replaced the keyboard and the ITE KBC chip and the problem is still the same. I don't see any passive elements that look damaged. Does anyone have an idea?
