    BE QUIET! BQT P5-420-S1.3 troubleshooting

    I have BTQ P5-420W-S1.3.
PWM controller (8 pins) for +5vSB it"s exploded. What IC work?
What is the value of CX (exploded)?.
ps. Sorry for my bad english.

Re: BE QUIET! BQT P5-420-S1.3 troubleshooting

I thought the circuit wasn't 5VSB part, that could be main switching part.
the PWM chip might be UC3842/UC3843.
    see the reference circuit attached.

With uc3842 or uc3843 or uc3844 +5vsb is not standing.
Variable between 4v and 4,5v (pulsate).

I mean, the PWM chip (might be UC384x) and the transistor in your circuit drawing in #1 post are parts of main switching, not 5VSB circuit.

the 5VSB circuit wasn't use the PWM chip UC384x, it could be 2 transistors circuit.
and your 5VSB problem seem to be badcaps symptom.

No. 5VSB is witch ic pwm and n-mosfet.
Power circuit is witch TL494 and 2 transistors.
          The caps it"s good.

may be your PSU is using Fuhjiyuu caps, like this one (images from google).
Fuhjiyuu are known crap caps, check your PSU caps.

              Ok, I was wrong.
the PWM is UC3842 with 2SK2645.

Firstly, please try to change both 5VSB caps. I guess they're bad.

CX is used in soft-clamp circuit, I guess it value is 0.01uF/1KV.

I would check all components in the circuit, include TL431 on secondary side.
may be some resistors were burnt.

Did you have change 5VSB capacitors?
I thought the PWM exploded due to heavy work because of leakage capacitors on secondary side.

if you post details of your PSU pictures, would help much.

                              I change all capacitors, tl431, 1N4148, DZ18V, MOSFET,optocuplor and resistors (all,all).
                              Maybe the value(s) of component(s) isn"t correct(s). Were blacks.

In this moment with the values of electrical diagram:
                                  U(v) pin 7 - 11-12v valiable
U(v) +5vsb - 2v but the electric current through mosfet is too big.
The frequency of uc3844 is 190khz.

Are you replace PWM chip with UC3844 ?

I thought it's caused the problem.
UC3844 has 50% duty cycle max., UC3842 has 100% duty cycle max.

Hello, I have an issue with the motherboard. Specifically, it doesn't power on, more precisely, the POST initialization doesn't occur.

Let me start from the beginning, the motherboard suddenly stopped working one day. There are no beep signals from the speaker, and the debug LEDs are not lighting up. After inspecting it under a microscope and using thermal imaging, I didn't find anything that could be damaged.

After that, I began voltage measurements, in which I noticed the absence of VDDQ, VDDP, VTT, and VPP lines. Later, I checked if there is an EN state on these lines,...

So I have a cheap non working ATX PSU that I was learning to repair a decade ago. At the time, it blew the main fuse, bridger rectifier, NTC, and primary 9A 900V MOSFET. Replaced all except the MOSFET. 5VSB came back online. Then I poked around in it so much, measuring components one by one to a point I accidentally made the 5VSB circuit primary side went bang. Blown the AP8022 (Viper22A) PWM chip, along with a low resistance resistor and the PC817 opto isolator. I replaced them all.

In the process of poking around, I also lost a zener diode that stabilize the voltage coming from...

                                          FSP300-60GTF - no 5VSB, PS_ON; 5VSB carnage
                                          by kotel studios
                                          Hi,

Finally replaced all of the shorted 4148's and resistors and an blown tl431 on my FSP300-60GTF after 5VSB going crazy and destroying it self. Those components also made the secondary transistors appear shorted (while in reality they weren't).
Powered it on through my dim bulb tester and they (bulbs) only flash once meaning primary caps are getting charged, but that's it. No 5VSB, PS_ON voltages.
I am sure I have replaced the components correctly and that there weren't any shorted/blown traces left.

Any ideas where to go next?

                                          Hello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...

Hello,I need help figuring out the resistance of this exploded resistor. I'm pretty sure it's the one labeled R37. I tried measuring it with a multimeter, but I got different values each time, probably because it's exploded. If you have a schematic, it would be really helpful!
Its a gtx 1060 6gb inno3d compact, i you have schematic it would be very helpful....
