      I'll begin with the fact I don't know what change I made to my laptop that triggered this cause. I use my laptop as a pseudo PC by just connecting it to my big smart TV and using a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have a sound bar connected to the TV via optical audio toslink cable. I have game consoles connected to the TV. The game consoles and Netflix/other media apps installed on the smart tv all work properly playing sound through my sound bar with no issues.       I don't know the history on this laptop. However it is in good condition and everything in it seems to be working except the sound. I tried troubleshooting that several ways, assuming it was a software or driver issue, but in the end even in the Dell diagnostics which run outside of Windows there were no tones played when running the audio diagnostics. It is as if the audio output device is completely missing.

      So, I thought maybe the problem was the little audio board (Dell part 5G0HC) that plugs in to the motherboard (Dell part YH90J). Maybe the audio board was dead. So I ordered...
