I'll begin with the fact I don't know what change I made to my laptop that triggered this cause. I use my laptop as a pseudo PC by just connecting it to my big smart TV and using a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have a sound bar connected to the TV via optical audio toslink cable. I have game consoles connected to the TV. The game consoles and Netflix/other media apps installed on the smart tv all work properly playing sound through my sound bar with no issues.
