"Hey guys, I’m working on the same motherboard in my lab right now and running into the same issue: the 3V/5V chip is shorted, and the transistors around the Richtek chip are running hotter than they should.
I pulled the 3.3V and 5V inductors and injected 3.3V at 0.8A — turns out the 5V rail goes straight into the CPU.
Just sharing in case it helps someone else out. "

I very much doubt it's the cpu, the 5Vaux rail goes to a lot of places.
99% of the times I found the culprit to be a shorted ceramic capacitor.
Inject more current, increasing in 1A steps, letting 10-20 seconds everytime for the offending componet to warm up.
Sometimes I've had to put 5A if the part was heavily shorted, as the dissipated power will be very different i.e. having a 0.2 ohm or 0.05 ohm short.

When injecting 5 V at 1 A into the 5 V rail inductor, only the CPU unit shows an immediate rise in temperature. No other component on the circuit exhibits any significant thermal dissipation.
These observations strongly suggest that the short is internal to the CPU, which is most likely defective.
I would have liked to investigate further to understand what might have caused this, but unfortunately I don’t have much time.

                  I have a Lenovo MIX 320-10lCR computer.**
                  1. **Operating System**: Windows 10 ** Education** 64-bit.
                  2. **User Account Restrictions**: The account I'm using has heavily restricted permissions via **UAC** and **Group Policy**. This means I cannot install any software without admin rights, adjust system time, run Command Prompt as administrator, or modify the registry via Regedit—all are blocked.
                  3. **BIOS Password Protection**: The BIOS is locked with a password, preventing me from installing a new operating system.
                  4. **BIOS Chip Reflashing**: Currently,...
