My apologies, I have now read the beginners guide. Please find info below and pictures, I hope they help.
Dell G7 17 7700
Problem: laptop was being used and working fine, when there was a small 'click' sound heard and the display went off. Laptop still powered etc just black display. Works fine when connected to external monitor. We shone a torch on the screen at this point and can see the faint display working, so we suspect the display back light is the issue.
Also, the caps lock and num lock keys are illuminated at all times.
Also, the fingerprint recognition button thing doesn't appear to be working? Doesn't recognise a fingerprint being placed on it.
No damage, liquid damage, drops etc. Screen itself is not cracked or damaged in any way. Bought laptop as new in 2020 I believe, out of warranty now.
Tried a hard reset, tried draining the power, tried display diagnostics, nothing showing any issues there.
We want the schematics to be able to check whether there was a fuse or similar for the backlight that may be blown, before going ahead and replacing the monitor/display.
However, we are open to any and all suggestions regarding rectifying this issue.
