    Reading schematics: Skill or Experience?

So how do I properly learn to read these schematic diagrams? Is there any online resources i can learn from? Or does it just come from experience of reading couple hundred schematics? Are they meant to only be understood by the people who make them? The goal here for me is to just look at a schematic diagram and instantly know whats going on.

You need t know what the symbols are first, then you need to learn to understand what each component are for and its function. I.E. Resistor, capacitor, ect.. Then learn to find out how they are used. So basically learn the basic first before trying to analyze how the circuits work.
There are many free info on the web, such as http://101science.com/Radio.htm
or just Google search. By the way, there is no stop learning, you will always learn something everyday by experience, or from other people experience.

      Agreed.

Thanks for the link. It seemed reasonable that I have to learn the basics first but i guess i just asked because i wanted an easy way out.

Guess my long journey down the road of electronics starts here.

Asus ROG Strix G (gl531gu-wb53) No power
        by FiguringITout
        Hello,

I've been trying to figure this out for a while and am stumped. Help would be appreciated.

I have this ROG laptop that is not powering on and has no signs of life. I took it apart and started measuring finding no obvious shorts, all coils looked fine and input mosfets are reading good resistance.

I followed schematics I had found on the forum (linked below) and started following the power to the charge controller (PU8900, BQ24780SRUYT).
        VCC - 19.65v
        REGN - 6v
ACDET - 1.6v (this is what I believe is the problem)
        ACOK - 0v...

GV-N2060OC-6GD REV 2.0 GIGABYTE video card troubleshooting assistance needed.
        by gcrezz
The issue with this video card is the HDMI port. Specifically on pin 19 (Diode checks on all other pins are normal). When i do a diode check on it from the pin on the board itself, I have nothing. There is also no short on the pin. Resistance reads about 200k. Normally on any HDMI pin 19 I would expect some voltage drop anywhere from .5v to 1.2v but here, I have nothing. The card is operational and can be used via the displayPort ports, but not through the HDMI. Attached you will find the pdf schematics for the card on page 22. I have verified that all of the resistors on this line before the...

Repairing the Hitachi DA-6000 CD player
        by nervous_capybara
        Hello everyone !

I recently conducted maintenance on a Hitachi DA-6000 CD player for my grandparents : it had two distinct issues.
Feel free to share your experience if you ran into other issues.

DISCLAIMER : BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN OPERATING ON THIS SYSTEM : THE HIGH VOLTAGE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE VARIOUS TESTING POINTS, PROCEED WITH CAUTION

CD tray would not come out of the player
I could hear a motor spinning inside the player but the CD tray would not come out.
Turned out that the issue was the CD tray belt that aged poorly and began to...

        Hey there people
While working on my Acer Aspire with the OS failing to load, I encountered a motherboard number of DA0ZHQMB6E 0 REV: E. I was getting nowhere fast or slow, for that matter.
This is what I tried, but not in any order.

recently I was handed a family members old NAD C320BEE that they had in their loft for storage for a few years but when powered on it went into power safety mode due to a problem on the protection circuit somewhere before it went into storage I was told it worked fine I found lots of people online talking about how the capasitors are known to be pretty bad in this model and can cause this issue the only problem being I don't have much experience sorting...
