These are the specifications.

Processor: I5
Board model: gl4A0/gl5A0 nm-c631 rev:1
bios chip model: Winbond 25Q80DV
the notebook does not turn on or charge

Hey,
I have some BIOS locked L14 Gen1 and some L490 laptops from a non-profit association that refurbishs laptops for people in need. I wanted to fix the problem for them.

My plan was to
1) desolder the flash chip
2) re-program it with a stock BIOS image
3) password should be gone

I'm currently failing getting a raw BIOS dump (just having an exe or iso file). That's how I came here.

I'm a bit confused. Can you help me:

1) What's the role of the EC here (it stores the password?)? Can you give a bit context please? It was hard to follow this thread.
2) How can I remove the password? I have a common SPI programmer, but never worked with the EC.
3) How can I get a stock ROM image from the Thinkpad website?

1. Yes it stores the password, also the serial number.
2. Assuming that the L14 Gen 1 can only be unlocked by flashing the EC then a dedicated EC programmer will be required , such as the Vertyanov SUCCESSOR, SVOD4, RT809H.
3. No need for it as pass is in EC.
