Hello,
I've got Lenovo X280 with lost password issue. I've tried to short pins 5,6 multiple times as instructed and laptop was not taking it - it was going off or restarting, then it stopped working completely. Now it only lights up and then reboots but nothing comes up on the screen. It gets really hot as well and fans start spinning fast.
Thinking bios chip died I got myself CH341A Programmer and new BIOS chips. Laptop uses this model 25Q128JVSQ.
I did manage to backup up old BIOS and tried flashing other ones I found online but it just made things worse. After connecting charger light blinks few times and laptop generally stops responding to power button. More dead than before.
I flashed old bios backup to new chip but it's same reaction.
Then I tried to flash old bios backup to old chip and it got back to previous state - turning on and nothing on the screen, then restart and getting hot with fans spinning.
I wanted to flash latest BIOS from Lenovo website but it only weights 9,455,008 bytes while original backup is 16,777,216 bytes long. There are actually 2 $0AN2000.FL1 files in 2 folders. One is N20ET61P and then N20ET61W. I did try UEFITool to extract bios but nothing is actually 16,777,216 bytes long. Maybe they have to be combined somehow?
Does anyone have any solution for that?
Regards,
