Dell Latitude 3420 BIOS - Manufacturing Mode Required

    Hi,

I'm having some issues with a Dell Latitude 3420 laptop I'm working with. The chip itself is an XMC25RH256CXIQ but I've not been able to find the exact settings for this chip using NeoProgrammer.

Instead, I've made a dump of the image using the following three chip settings within the software:

    - XC25QW256C
    - W25Q256BV
    - MX25L25635E

All three images have been uploaded. Oddly enough all three images aren't identical, but I'm guessing that the XMC XC25QW256C version might be the closest match.

If someone can help with creating a Manufacturing Mode (to enter the ST number) version of this BIN file, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Sorry I forgot to mention that the Service Tag/serial on the machine in question is FHGVQG3. If Manufacturing Mode isn't possible, having the BIOS configured with this serial would be great.

    Thanks for any help

Your file not good, use a programmer for dump content of bios chip.

Re: Dell Latitude 3420 BIOS - Manufacturing Mode Required

Thanks for looking at this hoaca388.

I took the bios dump (uploaded yesterday) with my rt809f programmer.

I since attempted several other dumps of the chip but each time the results are different (in total I have 8 dumps now). The latest version I've attached.

I then released I was dumping the data using the GD25Q256C@SOP16 settings (within the iFix program). I've since switched to the appropriate WSON8 settings (the dump for this can be seen below).

I also found on the rear of the motherboard is a smaller GigaDevice 25Q80EWIG chip, which I dumped and have uploaded the image. After several attempts of this dump, each result is exactly the same.

I've taken a photo of the location on the motherboard which I believe to be the main BIOS chip but it may have another use such as a Thunderbolt controller (this may explain the changing nature of the data within).

            Any help would be great.

            Cheers

All results are corrupt, the GigaDevice 25R256EYIG chip contains 32MB of data ( this is the bios chip ), when compressing to the rar file should be around 10MB to 12MB, try updating the latest software for your RT809F.
The GigaDevice 25Q80EWIG chip is not a bios chip, it only contains 1MB of data.

                Thanks hoaca388.

Is the attached BIOS dump any better? The compressed file size is definitely larger than before.

                Cheers

Not yet, try one more time, read chip at least 3 times, this file's description is missing.

Re: Dell Latitude 3420 BIOS - Manufacturing Mode Required

                    Thanks hoaca388.

I took some time to do some testing (thought my rt809f had broken, but it hadn't thankfully) - I was able to read/write BIOS images on another working laptop I have.

I managed to get another 3420 board, this time with an MXIC MX77L25650FZ4I42A BIOS chip installed (full model number is longer with 'L222862' included). This chip isn't listed within the iFix software unfortunately but after googling the chip specs, it seems to match the specs of the 'W25Q256FV@WSON8 8X6' option within the iFix Application. So I took the risk and it worked out - the latest BIOS dump I have it attached here. I've checked the image this time and it looks to be working within ME Analyzer.

If you can look at this one for more that'd be sound.
                    Cheers

If you can take a look at the latest BIOS dump uploaded hoaca388, that would be great.
