the bin file is 16mb when I add the file to rear it goes 3.7kb for some reason, verified the bios as well but same results.

Open your backup with a hex editor,look at the file,compare it with some other backups posted here. Your file is 99% FF`s ,it will compress down to almost nothing .

Thanks for the help guys and apologies for the delay in reply, the hex editor doesn't seem to be my cup of tea, the laptop wasn't turning on after copied the bios bin, so I tried a copy of bios from from a different thread, and it worked.. happy days....

happy days.... for now.One day you`ll run into a problem and wish you had checked and made a good backup.You don`t need to know how to use a hex editor or what the code means,just check the backup for some code.Its similar to looking at a microsoft word document,scroll through and see some words.If the file is all FF FF FF FF FF FF all the way through somethings wrong.
