Try this one,but you will lose DMI info .Let it run for at least 5 mins,it may reboot.

Hi SMDFlea, of all the bioses posted on here, this one was the only one that let the machine actually boot. All others do the fan running on high thing with black screen. The problem is I can't program it as windmifit can't recognise the machine name. I have posted my original (corrupted) bios here - is there any way you can help? Many thanks!

Try this one,its just a test,it might not even boot.If it doesn`t boot flash the ME clean bios again and try dmi tools 2.10 and HP BCU,bios config utility.

Thanks so much - I just noticed that with the ME Clean version, there is an option in the bios "set machine unique data", so I managed to program it that way. Just want to say that people like yourself are totally legendary - always willing to help out people just because you have the will to do so. I get that and try to do the same in the areas where I have specialist knowledge. In short - THANK YOU, and when I'm next in York, I will definitely get you a beer
