You can try as all latitude E5470 series has same bios though your mb is La-C831p and mine is La-C841p.

i tried this on my 5470 w/ LA-C831P.
power LED, keyboard backlight come on
after some time fast fan spin
then power off

You can try as all latitude E5470 series has same bios though your mb is La-C831p and mine is La-C841p.

Does not work with LA-C831P, the fan is running at maximum and the computer gives error 2-1 cpu error

The code at bios-pw should work.Sometimes you have to press ctrl+enter instead of enter. The password is stored in the MEC chip.

I know the handling of ctrl + enter but it does not work on this specific case. Most of the time it works but i feel like dell made an update which changes the algorithm, i might be wrong

Dell has (purposefully ) changed the algorithm in newer versions of the BIOS, and the workaround with generated master password (by the service tag) no longer works.

That's why I asked what is the version of the BIOS.

Yes, ive seen you mention that before,why did this one get rid of the pass just by merging the bios update and the newer ones need patching ? .

Peste has simply replaced the bios region - 9216kb from the latest version (v 1.22.3 - 02/17/2020) in his original 16384kb bios file (v 1.20.4 - 5/20/2019 which is the version before the last one). That's all, there is no patching or editing in this case which surprised me too, but the method obviously still works. However, the master password does not work in both versions.

Hi, I also have a E5470 in which the generated password from bios-pw.org does not work.
Bios version 1.21.4

With which tool do you replace the bios region? I tried "UEFITool NE", but the "Replace as is..." menu option is always disabled.
Would any newer bios downloaded and extracted from the dell website work or use one as close as possible?
