Try the bios at post #9 and edit your serial number into it ,

    DMI editing by brand https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...43&postcount=5

    4.3. Apple
For 2017 and older machines, serial number is stored in Fsys store of BIOS and can be edited with hexadecimal editor. Fsys checksum needs to be fixed afterwards
Search for "ssn", edit the serial number, save, open dump in UEFITool, go to the Fsys store and write down the suggested checksum in the panel on the right. Checksum is 4 bytes at the end of the Fsys store, between one zone of 0x00 either Gaid or another zone of 0xFF, it must be written in reverse order (so last 2 characters from UEFITool must be written first).

                        Hi guys,

                        A1398 efi password.
                        Emc2909
                        Board : 820-00138-A

I've attempted to delete the bios/efi password for a mabook Pro 15" that I bought from a fellow who sold me some programming books. It was in working condition but unable to be unlocked because he couldn't remember the passwords. Unfortunately, after flashing the BIOS with my attempt to remove the EFI password, all I get is fans spinning, black screen, seems like the EFI is not operational. Touch pad becomes active (haptic feedback) but external USB keyboard is not and only the power button on the internal keyboard seems to work.

I also tried burning in the .bin file that I found in post #19 in this thread... https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...8-efi-firmware

It is possible I've physically damaged the EFI chip (MXIC 25L6743 series) accessing it. I have done a lot of board level SMD work and ICSP programming but this one was challenging for me. None of my usual suppliers have them in stock. Can I substitute another part or should I keep looking for the correct one?

This is my first post, I hope I've followed the rules correctly.

                        Thanks,
                        S.

The bios you posted is longer, and then you wonder why it doesn't start...
The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHow

                              Hi peste,

That is the file I posted above after I physically removed and read the MX25 chip, that is the file that I posted earlier. Maybe I posted too much information that made it confusing. The file that I tried from the other thread was apparently from the same revision of motherboard which is why I tried it when my own edit attempt didn't work. They were both 8MB files, I only looked in the area of what I thought was the password, and spot checked a few other places to check they looked similar and from the same chip and firmware type but apparently I missed something which is why I reached out for help.

Thank you for your help, I will try the edit you posted.

                              Kind regards,
                              Steve.
