Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Hello, I've tried patching a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 6 to no avail. I'm always getting an 8 beep error code and a blank screen. I want to know if its just about replacing the modules or additional steps have to be taken. I had an earlier X1 Gen 6 patched successfully in this forum (thank you dani981).But when I use that bios file, it gets to where I press F1 to enter setup and then it writes "entering setup..." and then nothing happens. I extracted the modules from the earlier patched bios and used them to patch this current X1, but all I get is 8 beeps. I want to know if UEFI Tools alone is enough. I will be grateful if this file will be patched for me. Thanks in advance.Attached FilesComment

Supervisor password on X250
Hello everyone,
I've purchased a second-hand X250, without even imagining that the bios was locked, and of course the seller doesn't know the supervisor password.
After a few hours of searching, I stumbled upon this thread, and ordered the USB programmer to try and fix it.
I've tried to use the dump from aliencillo, but the laptop beeps 5 times x2, and shut down, nothing shows on the screen.
I've tried to understand what to do with UEFI tool, but I must admit I'm quite lost. Would there be someone nice enough to explain the process to me, or patch my image directly? That would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance, have a good dayComment

Re: Supervisor password on X250
Thanks for the patched file!
Unfortunately, I get "Invalid key", whether entering a key or leaving it blank.
Any idea why?

T470 Bios
I've tried patching the bios my self for my T470, Unfortunately I've not had any luck.
Main battery and CMOS battery disconnected. Tried pushing each of the three switches on the bottom and nothing. No musical beeps etc. Board starts, Screen flashes quickly, caps lock light blinks and then powers off.
Could anyone kindly take a look at the attached bios (clean dump before I did anything) and maybe patch it for me? Thanks!Last edited by SMDFlea; 04-01-2023, 07:27 AM.Comment

Re: Supervisor password on X250
I finally managed to get an image working! I extracted LenovoTranslateService, BootOption and SystemPpisNeededByDxeCore from the X250 patched image provided by Maxpower3 here, as it wasn't working on my machine. I then patched my original image, and finally it accepted an arbitrary key. I then restored the original bios image, and the supervisor password was gone.
Thanks dani981 and to everyone who contributed to this thread, it really helped me.Comment

by DynaxSCHi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.
For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . by m3vuvIts a bit of a long tale but i swapped the original hd for a 2tb ssd,i want about 6 bootable partitions,it needs the uefi enabling in the bios,I am ok with that, the issue is i cant convert the drive to gpt when it has data on it,the issue is windows wont install to a gpt drive, there is a utility from hp to install the efi partition on the drive but it runs on windows, its a chicken and egg thing, can anyone explaine how hp did this?,I am pulling my hair out;it seems i need to run the hp uefi tool to make the uefi option work in the bios, but it needs windows to run this that wont install on a gpt...

by CronaxFDHey guys,
Bought myself Surface Pro 4 tablet today on a local craigslist-type website.
I've seen that UEFI was password protected and of course the seller forgot the password, but decided to buy it anyway.
Really needed such a tablet to use with RomRaider to do some logging/tuning on my car.
It has secure boot turned off and boots from USB, so I've formatted SSD and have done clean win10 install.
Works fine, but wanted to ask, are there any real security risks associated with UEFI settings on Surface (remote access etc.)?

by S70rm7r00p3rHi guys.
I am very new to this business and i have some questions. Maybe someone can help me further.
I have a 2015 Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH and for some internet and office the computer works perfectly. Lately it has been bugging me a bit on and off. Then I saw there is a UEFI update from Intel and I thought if I put it on, the problems might be gone, but unfortunately the update didn't go through. The screen stayed black and after waiting for a while nothing happened, I had to pull the plug at some point. Of course, the NUC then failed to boot!

by hinsech475Hi, I would appreciate your help with the following problem.
I have a Fujitsu laptop AH562 witn a BIOS-UEFI problem since I converted the HDD to a SSD. For more details on the paltop go to the following link:
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...srch=TECHSPECS
After copying the HDD to SSD with ALtiris utility provided with the Kingston SSD and replacing the HDD with the SSD the laptop went into a startup loop with no screen display and only the disk LED flashing twice per second. I waited for approximatly 2h and then stopped the laptop... - Loading...
