Have you tried extracting it from the BIOS update file? I have successfully done it in the past although I don't fully understand what I'm doing.
There is a ROM file inside of an update called sa200(10g)_bios_w250.exe
I cant seem to upload anything at the moment.

It has been zipped with 7-Zip and the extension changed to .ZIP. 7-Zip still opens it.

inter your serial number of laptop to search box and find your lop top support page.
1-if you need rom file for programming so you can get bios file in support and driver page and extract them.you can see rom file in extract file.
2- if you need to update bios by windows you can download bios application (depend on your windows) and run exe file.it automatically update your bios.

Firstly Thank you to rievax 60 and boyebaran,

I have downloaded file thanks.


My problem is that once I turn the laptop on, it beeps and tells me that
0251 CMOS checksum bad, F1 to use defaults, F2 to enter setup.

I can access the BIOS change settings, exit , it will reboot and then lock with a black screen.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 PSAF6A-07G01N.

I have replaced the NEC-TOKIN due to it locking up when charging laptop whilst using it.

Also replaced HDD and CMOS battery.

Pressing ESC when turning laptop ON shows me that it is checking RAM it seems Ok.

So once I turn the laptop on, it beeps and tells me that 0251 CMOS checksum bad, F1 to use defaults, F2 to enter setup.

Again I can access the BIOS change settings, exit , it will reboot and then lock with a black screen.

Can anyone tell me if I can fix it.

I feel it might be a BIOS issue, but cannot boot to anything to reflash.

Unless someone tell me if I am doing something wrong

So you haven't reprogrammed the BOIS EEPROM memory IC yet? With a programmer.
I never know for certain that a problem is caused by corrupted BIOS until I have actually reprogrammed it. You must erase it first.

No I have not.

Does the 0251 checksum error tell me if it is a corrupt BIOS.

I am a noob, I thought I could flash without a programmer.

So I need to buy a programmmer, locate the Bios chip, which I believe is under the PCMCIA mechanism, erase then reprogram.

Is this correct.

The EEPROM IC is U33 near the front of the mainboard, 25VF080.
Search here for the CH341 programmer.
Double check the RAM by using one module at a time in each slot.

Could it be that, because when I press ESC when I power on, it tells me that System RAM Passed.

I have a new CMOS battery and it is keeping time.

Thanks for the info on EEPROM IC being U33,

It does the same with one Ram module,(swapped using one at a time). Keeps rebooting when using top RAM slot. Have to use Slot 1.

I happen to have an A200 open here, PSAF6A-0SQ01N. It should be comparable to yours. It has ATI HD2400 graphics rather than the HD2600. The BIOS IC is U38 in this model. Check yours.

I have just opened up and the BIOS IC is U38 and has a red dot.

And I believe is a 25X80VS1G

Hi Guys,

An update,

Thanks to rievax_60, I replaced my BIOS chip.

I have gone from BIOS v1.5 to BIOS v2.0

Unfortunately it still does the seem thing. I am at a loss to know
what is happening, it boots up, the BIOS system checks the RAM, and it still does the same thing. Goes Black and does not search for the HDD or DVD or Network card.

Does anyone know what can be up.

Could the SATA/DVD controller be faulty and not booting up.

please check hdd mode in set up page.(AHCI ,IDE,etc...)
