DELL Inspiron 5520 CMOS/BIOS Password lockout

Received a machine today, service code 5K4GDS1, boots right to the delightful "Enter Current Password [ ....... ]" prompt and nothing else regardless of what boot option you're trying for (F2, F12 etc).

Seems like someone's kids were messing around and then naturally forgot the password.

How can I flash it if I can't even get it to boot to anything?

i mean with bios programmer you have to flash ec as well as kb bios.

but 1st take out the cmos battery, leave it for 5-6 mins. if problem remains see if there is reset jumper pads.

I forced it in to 'disable' mode; I now have the following information -

System disable [0D10022E79EB049F]
Service tag [5K4GDS1]

try removing battery and as above said methods.

That'll be fun. Have to completely remove the mainboard out of the laptop to get to the CMOS battery ( you really have to wonder why they design these things without considering service access ).
