Hi everyone,
I’m working on a Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen 1 (Machine Type 20ST-004DUS), and recently replaced the motherboard (planar).
I successfully booted into the Golden Key U1 Tool (v3.5.78), and it launches ThinkPad Maintenance Utilities v1.20(x64) — but my version appears to be missing the full Set System Identification menu (it only shows Add/Read/Delete S/N options).
Here’s what I’ve already done:
I’m looking for the complete version of:
Preferably a version known to work with:
If you have a verified copy of the full maintenance utilities (or a link to one that includes ThinkSN.nsh, ThinkMTM.nsh, or the full submenu structure), I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your help. I’ll be happy to confirm results for other P15 owners once it’s working!

Here’s what I’ve already done:
- The EEPROM has been initialized successfully
- The U1 tool loads and detects the ThinkPad fine
- The current MTM/SN/UUID fields are blank
- When trying to enter serial (PF2XHBXQ or PF2XHBXQ00), I receive “The string length of the argument is not correct”
- My build doesn’t include the ThinkSN.nsh or Traditional Menu referenced in Lenovo documentation.
I’m looking for the complete version of:
🧭 ThinkPad Maintenance Utilities (x64) with full “Set System Identification” support for Machine Type/Model, System Unit S/N, and UUID write functions.
Preferably a version known to work with:
- ThinkPad P15 Gen 1 / P17 Gen 1
- Type 20ST / 20SU / 20S0 series
- Golden Key U1 or U2 tool compatible builds
If you have a verified copy of the full maintenance utilities (or a link to one that includes ThinkSN.nsh, ThinkMTM.nsh, or the full submenu structure), I’d really appreciate it.
