There`s a virgin bios at post 2 ,have you tried that ? , DMI 42000 - 4400FF DMI is in the 16MB bios, copy it from yours to the new one.

Please, correct me if I am wrong, for Yoga 7 16IAH7 notebook, full BIOS file is spread across 2 bios chips. I currently have one of these laptops with a shorted cpu. The replacement motherboard has a blank serial number that comes up as "INVALID" in Windows. I am trying to transfer the serial number from the old motherboard to the new one by swapping bios chips. Based on the boardview and provided photo below, these bios chips are located side by side on the motherboard as UB2 and UB3 (Winbond 64Mb and XMC 128 chips). I swapped both chips and the computer fails to boot by giving me Esc, Caps Lock and Num Lock keys lit up, fans spin and the cpu getting hot but no post.

I just need clarification whether I am working with the right bios chips here. Thanks.

You have 2 options:
1. Return the original BIOS chips to the new motherboard, then fill the data (model name, serial number, MTM, generate a new UUID) with Golden key

2. Return the original 8MB BIOS chip, backup both 128 (16MB) chips, from dead board and new board, then using a hex editor copy/paste overwrite only the DMI (encrypted, starts with LENV) from the dead board BIOS to the original working BIOS from new board
From post 2 (I think there's a slight mistake here) should be: DMI 42000 - 43FFF DMI is in the 16MB bios

The Intel ME region is in the 8MB chip, maybe laptop doesn't want to boot with an initialized ME region from the dead board

Where is the serial number info stored? 128Mb or 64Mb chip? Perhaps, I will try to swap out only 128Mb chip to see if the computer boots again.

The full BIOS is split between the 2 chips, the 64 (8MB) contains the ME region, and the BIOS-UEFI region is on 128 (16MB) chip, there may be a BIOS version mismatch, it's better to try option 1, return the original chips and see if laptop boots, then fix the S/N etc with golden key
The model name/serial/MTM and Win key is on the 128 chip
The ME region has to be either a clean ME, or the original from the new board, otherwise you'll have issues (late display, SSD not detected, etc.)
If you want to try, swap the 8MB (64) chip, check if laptop boots, then run the BIOS update from Lenovo website

I only swapped the 128Mb bios chip this time and that seemed to have done the trick. Computer is booting with the original serial number. Thank you

post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..
