Another: Laptop Dead Except for Lights and Fans Case. Is it BIOS?

I Have another dead laptop case: Its acer aspire 5580. When I press the power button, lights glow fan spins but nothing on display (both internal or external display). No symptom of life.
I thought It has problem with Display processor and needs reflowing but someone suggested it could be BIOS as well?
Well, How can I check whether its BIOS problem or not?

Some acer laptops gpu is in the external slot, if so take it out and start the machine then check the caps lock by pressing the key and see if the led is working.

I swapped the cpu: no progress.
Since I bricked a GPU in my previous attempt at reflowing, this time I am not in mood to do reflowing unless its the last option. So, how likely is it that GPU is fine and problem is with erased bios rom? How do I check if the bios is working properly? Is it possible that if I use a scope to sneak some signal lines I could tell if the problem is with BIOS or GPU?

yes reflow is last choice. do u hav epprom ? try read from there compare your original reading with downloaded bios from acer website. some corrupterd bios is blank and the computer system cant read and boot properly.

And how did you manage to brick your GPU?

              Hi there,

i think it should be habituation for technicians who want to repair notebooks. When i get a Notebook for repairing at first : i seek for bios and i am flashing it !! No matter what the problem is.. it takes me few minutes only, and sometimes it makes you smile in very short time, when you see that the problem was the bios.

                Follow up.
Unfortunately the BIOS ROM chip 39VF080 seems to be damaged. (It refuses to get programmed)
I am having hard time finding it, so I am considering to order it online.
However, I am not even sure that it is the only culprit and replacing it would cure the problem. If there are bigger problems then buying it might turn out to be a waste.

I have a Quanta ZR6 motherboard with same problem, and I check VCC_CORE and there is nothing. In this motherboard, the problem is an IC (ISL6266A) dead, (no pulses for the mosfet) and yes, lights and fan works also, as yours.
                  Regards.

Yes Francisco.s is right. Start checking for 'missing' voltages.

There are CPU and RAM voltages in my case.

Then probably cpu and gpu gets temperature, if so, could be a bios problem, and to resolve it, the flash bios have to be programed with an external programer.
First you have to visit the laptop`s website and download last bios update.
                        Greetings and good luck.

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
                          by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

MacBook Pro 2011 turns on with keyboard light , screen dead
                          by Rav_tangle
Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .
                          is this...
