    Vostro 5581 Bios

I have a Dell Vostro 5581 would not boot and appeared to have a corrupt bios. Using a programmer I made a backup of the existing bios which showed an empty file. Through this forum I downloaded a 5481 bios file and all is now working, with the exception that the service tag is wrong and hence the updates etc will be for the wrong service tag. 1. Does anyone have a Vostro 5581 bin file. 2. The service tag number 5481 appears in the supplied 5481 Bin, can this be edited to 5581. 3. There is a Dell Inspiron Universal.rar file on the forum and can this be used and then input the correct Tag.
    And finally, can anyone assist.
Thanks from a very old silver surfer.

Apologies for being a little slow, but how do I load the attached file. When the file is loaded, does that wipe the service tag from the bios, and then that enables me to input the tag number and then proceed with the normal bios updates from Dell. Service Tag is 4JHBQT2
Thanks again from an old silver surfer.

Hello, you must write your chip with this file, with your programmer, a question: what programmer are you using?

          The standard CH341A.

Thanks for the Bios file. Looks like every thing is all good. I was able to enter the Service Tag and am now in the process of reloading via the Dell OsRestore. Thanks once again.

              Hello there,

I got a Vostro 5581 which boots after waiting for tens of seconds and also having an issue with audio with "FW didn't get whatever" error. I found ME Cleaning guide pointed here but when I used MEAnalyzer it said version is unknown so I'm stuck at step 1. :/

I upgraded BIOS to 2.18 but nothing changed, so I'd appreciate if someone could provide proper file.

And is there a tool to upgrade Dell BIOS or have to upgrade via CH341A tool ?

PS : does the file @ https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...stro-5581-bios make any sense?

              Thanks in advance.

              post the Service Tag..

the original bios of the laptop, the motherboard model, the full name and model of the laptop, etc.
Due to a lack of donations, server free space at a critical level, and possible closure of Bios Requests all donations are welcome, click:

                Hello,

New service tag is B137GT2 ( Actual laptop has service tag of 5Y96DT2 - Dell Vostro 5481 but apparently they replaced faulty motherboard with this one from a Dell Vostro 5581 , new motherboard has a label of " Bucky/Bensolo WHL/CNL MB TVMHG$CA 17859-1 " )

Have no idea of original BIOS, it had a 2.5.0 BIOS when it came , upgraded to latest 2.18.0 and that's all.

                Hope this helps.

post your backup,or backups if the bios is split across 2 chips.
