    Re: Vostro 5581 Bios

Thanks for the Bios file. Looks like every thing is all good. I was able to enter the Service Tag and am now in the process of reloading via the Dell OsRestore. Thanks once again.

    Re: Vostro 5581 Bios

Apologies for being a little slow, but how do I load the attached file. When the file is loaded, does that wipe the service tag from the bios, and then that enables me to input the tag number and then proceed with the normal bios updates from Dell. Service Tag is 4JHBQT2
Thanks again from an old silver surfer.

started a topic Vostro 5581 Bios

    Vostro 5581 Bios

I have a Dell Vostro 5581 would not boot and appeared to have a corrupt bios. Using a programmer I made a backup of the existing bios which showed an empty file. Through this forum I downloaded a 5481 bios file and all is now working, with the exception that the service tag is wrong and hence the updates etc will be for the wrong service tag. 1. Does anyone have a Vostro 5581 bin file. 2. The service tag number 5481 appears in the supplied 5481 Bin, can this be edited to 5581. 3. There is a Dell Inspiron Universal.rar file on the forum and can this be used and then input the correct Tag.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

The name is Andy, and looking through the intro's it would appear that I am a little older than some. Started life with the original Spectrum in 1982 I think. Through the job(communications) had a laptop the size of a house in '86 and progressed through 286 onwards. Wrote software and databases in my early years, but am now retired and an old silver surfer. Still repairing PC and basically anything electronic, but getting harder as the memory is not what it was. Cheers
