After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).
Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...08-01-2025, 09:15 AM -
Hi all. First post here, so I hope I'm getting this right and operating in the spirit of things here.
I've been working on consoles for a while now. Always learning and trying new repairs, but I have one that has been stumped and I wondered if anyone with more experience could help?
I picked up a PS5 from eBay recently. It was described as not having the disc drive, but it was also a no power unit. On testing it was clearly an issue with the supply (no 12v), so I replaced that and then when I inserted the power lead, I got 3 beeps. So far, seems all related. As I was... -

Hi,
BIOS update bricked my laptop - after restart the was a prompt to Proceed with ROM flash or Abort. None of 2 options worked - upon restart the same prompt shown.
I downloaded [BIOS update].exe file from Lenovo Support > extracted [firmware descriptor].fd file > renamed it to [correct crisis file name].bin.
With crisis file on USB drive the Proceed with ROM option launches recovery - after displaying the current and the new BIOS version, the process terminated immediately with validation error:

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
