    HP 15-bs001ni bios query

    Good evening.

I have a HP laptop I suspect may have a bios issue. When I download the bios from their website I get 4 different bin files. Does anyone perhaps know which one to flash? Thank you for your time.

Don`t flash any until you make a good backup.Your backup could contain important DMI information ,the serial number etc.Post your backup here, even if its corrupt.

Thank you for your help. I believe your bios is good. It seems I might be dealing with a hardware fault that looked like a bios issue.

Vesko356, thank you your bios was perfect. I found the problem in the end.

Help Disabling Flash Protection Range Registers on Lenovo P360 Tiny BIOS
                    by abhorsen
                    Hey guys,

Hope you all are doing well. I come here from Win-Raid because I am having issues disabling Flash Protection Range Registers so I can flash my BIOS from within Windows using Intel's IFW tool/using flashrom within Linux, however I cannot due to the above mentioned error.

Here is my thread on Win-Raid detailing the whole process I went through: https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/re...h-gen/95478/27

Essentially I managed to boot into Windows while shorting PINs 1+5 of my audio chip to disable the HAP bit...

Bricked bios from a bad flash/update in a case of NO BACKUP repair question
                    by Shadowtuy
So I'm new here and have successfully unlocked a bios using "RCUnlocker" but after that I'm curious on recovery of a bricked bios from a bad flash/update in a case of NO BACKUP.

The part I'm stuck on is my HP backup are a 32,768KB and 16,384KB image compared to a fresh bios from HP at 23,690KB. How would I use the fresh image to repair a flash chip? The guide I'm following just takes the image and flashes it over but clearly there is more to it.

Just looking to expand my knowledge of this since the password removal worked great. Sorry if I missed this being...

Dell Optiplex 7010 micro bad BIOS flash?
                    by mrrubik
                    Hi folks,

I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)

                    Steps I took:
                    1. Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
                    2. Patched
                    ...

Is it okay to flash stock bios onto the motherboard's BIOS?
                    by AkaBukai
                    Hi there,
                    I have a 14" Lenovo Laptop (Flex 5 14ALC05) which has a boot issue.
The little LED on the power button is flashing slowly and nothing happen.
This unit do not have any BIOS button cell battery so I tried many times draining the power but it is still not powering on.

So I decided to flash the BIOS using a cheap programmer.
And I was successfully able to read the content (exactly 16MB file) which BTW is a WINBOND 74m12jwsiq (according to the package inscription - but detected as W25Q128FW in the software - IMSProg on Linux)

                    I also...

WD Sentinel DS5100 (NAS) boot issues
                    by DeanWy
                    Hi all,

I have a Western Digital Sentinel DS5100 NAS system which has stopped working. It has dual BIOS. I bought the system second hand with an already broken primary BIOS (it rebooted multiple times until second BIOS was used).

It worked until recently. The system was idle in Windows Server 2012 and a BSOD occurred, I think it was 'critical process died'. Thereafter it didn't boot, it just sat there with no video output and fan speed at 100% (there's a proprietary Windows driver by WD which controls the fan, outside of that it always runs at 100%).

                    There...
