If it no longer boots with the original ones then youve dislodged a resistor, damaged the bios chips from excessive heat or broken the traces.Comment

Hello, I have been lurking the forums for a few hours and just wanted to make sure my understanding of the process is correct. From what I can tell, none of the HP flash tools will work for this laptop (645 G9), and the BIOS must be manually edited by someone. From my understanding you cannot just remove the password from the BIOS and reflash it, the entire DMI must be erased. I believe only the SPI ROM chip is flashed, and the EC ROM chip is not touched. I have read Rex98's process for the first two boots after flashing a new BIOS. Then the HP BCU is used to edit the BIOS DMI values back to their factory values. Are there any resources for learning how to manually edit the BIOS dump myself? I am waiting on a CH341A flash tool to arrive so it would be cool to learn how the BIOS files are being edited. If it's just easier for me to post the dump here and have someone do it for me I understand.
I have tried searching on the forums for more info, but the few threads I have seen asking a similar question were just hijacked by people asking "please fix BIOS".Comment

Slightly off topic, I have a 645 G9 here with Ryzen 5 PRO 5675U.
Could anyone please measure the resistance to ground on the leftmost coil/inductor to the CPU.
Mine is 2.2 Ohms, which doesn't look good to me 😢
I have one which has a blown inductor component above the driver chip to this coil, and I am wondering whether the CPU is shorted/dead.
Thanks to everyone willing to give a value.Comment

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-

by NopslideHello everyone, I come here to tell you my problem regarding the power-on password. It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.
My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).
Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....-

by outsiderHello
I removed the BIOS password thanks to the help of one of the friends of this forum.
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...61#post3637661
The batch from which the password was removed works correctly but... after some time, the BIOS password is set again, I reprogrammed the batch with the removed password, it's ok, there is no password, I set my password, ok, I can enter the BIOS with my password but...-
