    Acer Predator pt515-51-75BH KB9028Q C firmware

I have an Acer Predator pt515-51-75BH with a burnt ene KB9028Q C, that I'm going to try to replace. I have seen that the chip will need to be programmed, and was wondering if anyone has the firmare I can write to it, or if anyone can tell me how else I might aquire it.

    The motherboard is GHIBLI 18803-2

I'm having trouble reading the BIOS on this board. It does not detect the chip model, but if I select the model manually... I've read it 3 times and saved each one, but when I hash the files I get 3 different md5 hashes. Could that be from the chip being bad also from when the ene chip burned?

I am using the ch341a, and I saw that they can have problems with 128mbit chips, but I have read and written these before, and I currently have a different Lenovo motherboard I can read the chip and get the same hash each time.

The acer BIOS chip is mx25l12872f
The lenovo bios chip I can (seemingly) read fine is 25q128jvsq

Do you think my chip is bad, or I need a better programmer?

Try NeoProgrammer software it supports the mx25l12872f https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...3&postcount=16

Thanks, that was actually what I tried 1st, but the chip selection window that pops up was blank. I removed the BIOS from the board (I know I should have done this in the 1st place, but hadn't needed to yet) and soldered it to the adapter board rather than using the clip with the chip on the MOBO and it looks to be reading correctly now.

ch341a programmer detected it as the wrong chip brand, but I selected the correct one from the drop down, read it and saved, and then neo programmer detected the correct "family" of chips, I selected the correct one, read it and saved.

The files from both programmers showed same hash.

Is there a way for me to confirm that my Ec firmware has extracted correctly? I used a program called ******. When I added the bios dump.bin file it automatically seleted "Extract ENE EC Firmware", so I'm assuming it should be fine?

Imranromi and a lot of other experienced members here don`t use any sort of paid software, just a hex editor to extract the EC.

                Problem with ENE firmware

Awhile back I replaced a burnt ENE kb9028q c, and after programming the replacement, I was unable to get the laptop to work. I did poor job of soldering the chip, and had to go back with my soldering iron to fix a few mistakes, so I thought maybe I had damaged the chip trying to fix these mistakes.

Since I had order two replacement chips (in case I messed up) I recently decided to retry soldering in a new chip again. This time I did well soldering it with hot air.

After installing the chip, I plugged in the AC adapter and I got the orange charging light, which came on with or without the battery plugged in, but the laptop would not power on, so I again folllowed the steps to attach jumpers to the keyboard pins, and reprogram the chip with my ch341a.

After programming, the charging light no longer comes on at all. I tried erasing and reprogramming again, but still no luck. The firmware I am trying to flash I extracted from the BIOS I dumped from the BIOS chip, but don't know if it is possible I did something wrong.

If I upload my dumped BIOS and the extraced firmware could anyone take a look and tell if something is wrong with the firmware I am trying to flash?

For some reason when I go to the Acer site, if I put in that model, or the serial number the only thing it brings up are forum posts. I can't find any kind of driver page for it.

I can get to the support site but the download links aren`t working, they might be doing some site maintenance at the moment.

Attached is the EC extracted from your backup.

I need to learn more about doing that myself. When I did it before I used a program called BIOS creator.

Thank you very much, I kind of wish I'd done this before, but I feel like I also needed the extra practice installing the EC chip anyway.
