    Asus S430U not powering on

    Hi

when i connect the charger i see an orange light. even if battery is not connected. I can feel the CPU getting very hot under the hit-sink

my question is. if i feel the CPU getting warm does it always means that the CPU is shorted ?

In these cases it is the smaller die which is heating up. It's the PCH part which shares the same substrate with the CPU. When it is like that then yes, the PCH is shorted.

Always confirm with resistance measurements, to not judge a normal working board as no-fix by accident.

You are actually correct the hit coming from the small left die

I have no schematic so i don't know where to measure resistance
