Hi All., I am working on a Apple MacBook Air A1466 Board # 820-00165-A. It was in for not turning on (DEAD) & SMC getting hot. Upon mircoscopic observation, I saw a little corrosion on one of the caps near the SMC. Checked it, & it was shorted. Replaced it & all worked fine. Now what happens, the keyboard & trackpad work 100% fine in the start, I can even put in the Password & cursor moves fine untill complete boot up. Once it's in the desktop, the keyboard & trackpad give up & by itself it starts to search for bluetooth keyb & trackpad. I put in another SSD with new OS but still the same, upon chime booting keyb & trackpad work fine but when on the desktop, nothing works. Does anyone have any tips on this kind of problem. I totally lost on this. Thanks in advance,

Re: MacBook Air A1466 Keyboard Problem
Hi mon2., so in my case I replaced the 4x33ohms R4850~53 resistors & R1665, R1666 & R1667 because the were corroded a bit & relation to SPIs. But still no luck. Then I removed the battery & un-screwed the Trackpad. Checked under the microscope, no liquid spill on the trackpad, just had a six sense to replace this & see what happen, & guess what all worked like charm & normal. Did not believe that the trackpad could cause the keyb & trackpad not to work in OS??? But anyway all problem solved, thanks for the help.Comment

by Vliegenier04Hi! This Mac has been an headscratcher for me, I can't seem to figure out the issue. The Macbook has gotten water damage to the front of the keyboard connector and battery connector. The keyboard connector was dead, by which I mean it was completely corroded and I have replaced it with a brand new one.
I have verified all the pins are connected to the main board and the main voltages (PP1V8_AONSW_KBD_ISNS and PP3V3_AON_KBD_CONN) are both present, with and without keyboard attached.
Unfortunately, the keyboard does NOT want to work, caps lock LED not functioning as well as any...06-16-2025, 12:03 PM -

I got this MacBook Pro M4 Pro to have a look at.
It was tiny bit liquid damaged, just the edge of the board got 1 small 10x10 mm area wet. I've seen much worse that still worked fine to be honest.
Since it was liquid damaged, warranty does not apply anymore.
Anyways it was checked at an local Apple Store and they discovered that it needs new trackpad, new top case, etc. Also it needed a new lid angle sensor which they replaced.
The main issue was that the screen remained black.
Anyways I cleaned the liquid damaged area, put the machine back... -
by biosdiHi guys.
I Just replaced battery on my MacBook Pro A1989. Unfortunately doing that, I’ve broken the trackpad flex cable (821-01701-a), and I’ve already ordered a spare one. At the same moment I’ve noticed that also the keyboard it’s not working anymore and I’ve found an SMD chip unsoldered and moving freely inside the backplate. I can read L20L on the chip. Is something could explain the keyboard not working or the keyboard doesn’t work due the unconnected trackpad?
thanks...04-17-2025, 09:42 AM -
by iMuhtasebWow it's been a while since I posted!
This is a weird case, it has a history of liquid spill a year ago but customer did not want to replace neither trackpad or keyboard.. fast forward for today:
A2681 turns on but not trackpad or keyboard feedback (or external keyboard and mouse) and then after a minute or so the Mac sleeps..
It's a NOT a sleep sensor or trackpad or keyboard or daughterboard or anything else (I replaced all those); it's the logic board..
Tested another locked logic board on customer's top case and it posted with keyboard and... -
by Sierra89Hello!
I've used this forum a lot in the past and always found the information I needed to keep on learning and solving the problems. This time, though, I haven't been able to find what I needed so I wonder if any of you could share it.
I have a 2017 Macbook air A1466 that won't turn on.
I can turn in on with the power pads, and even shorting the SMC_ONOFF_L
line to ground in both sides of the flex cable (mother board and trackpad board), I also changed the whole keyboard assembly to a new one which works well.
All this leads me to think that my problem...-
